Rattle noise at idle. Gets less as eng r p m increases-97 toyota camry

how is the engine oil ? when was it last changed as old oil is less effective , try an oil and filter change , but a hard rattle as you describe it may be something ,not more serious , but maybe a loose drive belt or some thing that when engine revs increase's it becomes noticable though is still there ,if oil change makes no difference have a good listen around engine also underneath to try to narrow down location , hope this helps keep me posted if you wish

How to replace a water pump on a 2004 dodge cummins motor, 3500 4x4 dulley

Replacing the water pump on my 2004 5.9 cummins 1ton Dually was easy,Disconnect neg. batt. cables, drain coolant, released serpentine belt tensioner with 1/2" drive ratchet and while in released position slipped belt from ac compressor, removed two bolts that held alt. to brackets, slipped alt. to one side then removed upper alt. brkt., removed two bolts on water pump, made sure mounting surface of block was clean and took new water pump put a small amt. of rtv sealant all around groove that rubber seals goes in,install rubber seal, "be sure and wipe off excess sealant then re-install water pump tightening carefully, reinstall alt. upper brkt., then alt. put belt back in correct position but be sure and leave it off of ac pulley so you can reinstall it on ac when you are underneath the eng. area while releasing tension on belt tensioner. Fill with proper coolant type till you have rad. full. Reinstall cables, start eng and with cap off you will have to add coolant as eng. warms up till it has air out of system. Once rad. is full install cap then refill coolant recovery bottle to full level, Keep and eye on it for leaks for a couple of days and "Happy Driving" Don't think I left anything out :)

A/C Belt To Remove:
NOTE: The A/C drive belt self tensioner is NOT a dynamic tensioner. After adjustment the tensioner bracket bolts are tightened. The torsion spring is no longer responsible for tensioning the A/C belt. The torsion spring is only used for initial belt tensioning.
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions at the beginning of this section.
  2. Remove alternator/power steering belt to gain access to A/C belt:
  3. Loosen, do not remove tensioner locking bolt and pivot bolt.
  4. Insert 1/2" drive breaker bar into square opening on belt tensioner.
  5. Rotate tensioner counterclockwise until belt can be removed from pulleys.
  6. Slowly rotate tensioner clockwise to relieve spring load. NOTE: Clean all foreign debris from belt pulley grooves. The belt pulleys must be free of oil, grease, and coolants before installing the drive belt.
NOTE: Belt replacement under any or all of the following conditions is required:
    • Excessive wear
    • Frayed cords
    • Severe glazing
  7. NOTE: Poly-V Belt system may develop minor cracks across the ribbed side (due to reverse bending). These minor cracks are considered normal and acceptable. Parallel cracks are not
NOTE: Do not use any type of belt dressing or restorer on Poly-V Belts.
