Question about 2003 Jeep Liberty

1 Answer

I just put a new battery in my 1994 Dodge Caravan SE, 3.3 engine, 6 cylinders, There's a click when you turn the key, but the engine doesn't turn over at all. Except for the dead battery, the car started fine before this. Anybody know what I can try next?

1996 Dodge Caravan wont crank if i turn the key to start i get noting all relays are new all fuses checked the message center does not do a bulb check stays off

I would start off by trying to jump start the vehicle. If it starts and runs normal, that tells you the starter and engine are okay, and the problem is in the charging system - battery, battery cables, alternator, relays, etc.

Now if it doesn't start, I would take the belt off and see if I could move the crank manual with a wrench. If it rotates (CW) then most likely your starter is bad.

I do not know if you have the 3.0L V6, 3.3L V6, 3.3L Flex-Fuel V6; or the 3.8L V6 Engines; however I have included all below:

For the 3.0L V6:
Firing Order:
1-2-3-4-5-6
Cylinders:
.....(back)
1......3.......5
2......4.......6
.....(front)
Distributor:
...(back)
......1
3..........2
5..........6
......4
...(front)

For the 3.3L AND 3.8L V6
Firing Order:
1-2-3-4-5-6
Cylinders:
.....(back)
1......3.......5
2......4.......6
....(front)
Ignition Coil:
(back)
5..1..3
2..4..6
(front)

For the 3.3L Flex-Fuel V6:
Firing Order:
1-2-3-4-5-6
Cylinders:
....(back)
1.....3......5
2.....4......6
....(front)
Ignition Coil:
(back)
6..3
4..1
5..2

Put in key it wont turn.

sounds like you have a frozen lock cylinder. you can try spraying some wd-40 or lube into the key slot and tapping on the ignition and it might free up temporarily but you will most likely have to replace the lock cylinder
