Check the cigar fuse in the underhood fuse box.

Turn you ignition switch to the on position ,does the CK ENG Lite appear, if yes this is a good indication. Your DLC (diagnostic link connector) should have battery voltage at pin 16 and ground at 4 and 5,If you can verify that your vehicle has this working order then its there problem and not yours

DTC P1115 - Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor Circuit Intermittent High Voltage

The Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor contains a semiconductor device which changes resistance based on temperature (a thermistor). The ECT sensor mounts in the left bank cylinder head near the front of the engine. The ECT sensor has a signal circuit and a ground circuit. The PCM applies a voltage (about 5.0 volts) on the signal circuit to the sensor. The PCM monitors changes in this voltage caused by changes in the resistance of the sensor in order to determine the engine coolant temperature.

When the engine coolant is cold, the sensor (thermistor) resistance is high, and the PCMs signal voltage is only pulled down a small amount through the sensor to ground. The PCM senses a high signal voltage (low temperature). When the engine coolant is warm, the sensor resistance is low, and the signal voltage is pulled down a greater amount. This causes the PCM to sense a low signal voltage (high temperature).

When the PCM senses a signal voltage higher than the normal operating range of the sensor, this DTC sets.

Conditions for Setting the DTC
Engine operates longer than 60 seconds.

Conditions for Setting the DTC
The engine coolant temperature is less than -35 C degrees (-31 F) for less than a second.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets
The PCM stores the DTC information into memory when the diagnostic runs and fails.
The malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) will not illuminate.
The PCM records the operating conditions at the time the diagnostic fails. The PCM stores this information in the Failure Records.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC
A last test failed, or current DTC, clears when the diagnostic runs and does not fail.
A history DTC will clear after 40 consecutive warm-up cycles, if no failures are reported by this or any other non-emission related diagnostic.
Use a scan tool in order to clear the DTC.

Diagnostic Aids
Electromagnetic interference (EMI) can cause an intermittent DTC. Inspect the related circuits for being too close to secondary ignition wires and the generator.
If the engine sat overnight, the engine coolant temperature and intake air temperature values should display within a few degrees of each other. If the temperatures are not within 3 C degrees (5 F degrees), refer to Temperature vs Resistance .

For an intermittent, refer to Symptoms .

Test Description
The numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table.
If DTC P0118 failed this ignition, this indicates a hard failure is present. When a hard failure is present, both the hard and intermittent DTCs set.

When moving related connectors, visually/physically inspect connectors for the following:
Poor mating of the connector halves or a terminal not fully seated in the connector body (backed out).
Improperly formed or damaged terminals. Carefully reformed or replaced all connector terminals in the related circuits in order to insure proper terminal contact tension.
Poor terminal to wire connection. Inspect for poor crimps, crimping over wire insulation rather than the wire.
Dirt or corrosion on the terminals. Inspect the connector seals for being there and for being damaged.

When moving the related wiring harnesses, visually/physically inspect the wiring for the following:
Wire insulation that is rubbed through, causing an intermittent short.
Wiring broken inside the insulation.

Using the Freeze Frame and/or Failure Records data may aid in locating an intermittent condition. If you cannot duplicate the DTC, the information included in the Freeze Frame and/or Failure Records data can help determine how many miles since the DTC set. The Fail Counter and Pass Counter can also help determine how many ignition cycles the diagnostic reported a pass and/or a fail. Operate the vehicle within the same freeze frame conditions (RPM, load, vehicle speed, temperature etc.) that you observed. This will isolate when the DTC failed. For any test that requires probing the PCM or component harness connectors, use the Connector Test Adapter Kit J 35616-A . Using this kit prevents any damage to the harness connector terminals.

2002 f250 failed inspection. HC was high(589). can this be corrected without taking it to a mechanic? thanks!


If you haven't done so already I suggest you take the truck to an auto parts store and ask them to use a code scanner to check for diagnostic trouble codes this could help point you in the right direction.

Check for vacuum leaks at the following locations:
  • EVAP System
  • EGR System
If you notice a rotten egg smell when the engine is running, or if there is excessive soot in the tailpipe this could indicate a plugged or damaged catalytic converter. Sometimes chemical additives like Seafoam can help clean carbon deposits out of the intake, and catalytic converter.

A failing O2 sensor could be causing an incorrect fuel-air ratio.

2002 cadillac escalade, when i turn my headlamps on the dash lights go out


My guess is the head light switchitself is bad. Some headlight switches burn their own terminals off. Pull the cluster bezel (a Haynes manual shows how - get PN 36058 w/light blue cover), then the headlight switch & inspect the connector for signs of heat. If it's burnt, you'll need a new switch & at least a replacement wire terminal - probably the big plastic connector, too.

The airbag connectors in behind the front kick panels have high resistance. The fix is to replace them. Here is TSB's

Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) Light ON, Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) B0013, B0014, B0017, B0018, B0024, B0026, B0043, B0044 (Inspect and/or Replace IP Harness to Inflatable Restraint Module (Air Bag) Yellow 4-Way Connector C221 and/or C222)

This bulletin is being revised to add the 2007 model year for pickups and change a part number. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 05-09-41-001A (Section 09 -- Restraints).

Condition
Some customers may comment that the Service Supplemental Inflatable Restraint Light is on.

Diagnosis with a scan tool may indicate a DTC B0013, B0014, B0017, B0018, B0024, B0026, B0043, B0044.

Cause
The most likely cause of any one of the following DTCs: B0013, B0014, B0017, B0018, B0024, B0026, B0043, B0044 is improper connection/high resistance in the IP harness to inflatable restraint module connector C221 and/or C222.

Diagnostic Information
DTC B0013, B0014, B0017, B0018, B0024, B0026, B0043, B0044 will set when one of the following conditions occur:
• The SDM detects the air bag module deployment loop resistance is greater than 4.8 ohms for 500 milliseconds.
• The SDM detects that the voltage at the air bag module high control is less than 2.4 volts and deployment loop resistance is 6 ohms or greater for 500 milliseconds.
• For additional diagnostic information, refer to DTC B0013, B0014, B0017, B0018, B0024, B0026, B0043, B0044 in the appropriate SI Document.

Correction

DO THIS
Test for proper connection/high resistance at connector C221 and/or C222.

Don't Do This
DO NOT replace SIR system components prior to testing for proper connection/high resistance in C221 and/or for DTCs B0013, B0014, B0017, B0018, B0024, B0026, B0043, B0044.

Caution: When performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, the SIR system must be disabled. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zones. Failure to observe the correct procedure could cause deployment of the SIR components, personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs.

Important: The IP harness to inflatable restraint module connectors C221 or C222 is NOT located at the base of the steering column...
• C221 (4 Cavities) -- I/P Harness to Body Harness, behind the left kick panel
• C222 (4 Cavities) (w/o HP2) -- I/P harness to body harness, behind the right kick panel
• C222 (4 Cavities) (w/HP2) -- Behind the left side I/P access panel
• Refer to the Master Electrical Component List for additional location information.

1. Remove the appropriate side door sill plate.
2. Remove the appropriate side hinge pillar panel.
3. Locate the IP harness to inflatable restraint module yellow 4-way connector C221 or C222.
4. Inspect the IP harness to inflatable restraint module connector C221 or C222 for proper connection.
5. Disconnect and reconnect the IP harness to inflatable restraint module connector C221 or C222 THREE times.
6. Clear the DTC and road test the vehicle.
• If DTCs B0013, B0014, B0017, B0018, B0024, B0026, B0043, B0044 DOES NOT reset, no additional repairs are necessary. Continue with step 10.
• If DTCs B0013, B0014, B0017, B0018, B0024, B0026, B0043, B0044 DOES reset, the most likely cause is high resistance in the IP harness to inflatable restraint module connector C221 or C222. Continue with the next step.
7. Replace the appropriate connector C221 and/or C222, P/N's 15306186 and 88987998. Refer to SIR/SRS Wiring Repairs (SI Document ID #325229).
8. Road test the vehicle and confirm that the repair is complete.
9. Install the driver's side hinge pillar panel.
10. Install the driver's side door sill plate.

Don't knwo whr obd connector is found on 1996 saab 900 s


is it a 16v saab with engine code B202 if so it is a three pin connector in the right hand side fuse box. that where auto data is showing it anyway.
