Common problem. The indicators burn out. This will need to be replaced with a new unit from gm or send it out to a repair man specializing in electronic repair. You can find some selling their services on ebay.

Need to know what the a/t button on my dash is for ?

When you are climbing a grade, your 'automatic transmission' will automatically downshift when pressing the accelerator to the floor. If you don't want it to shift on it's own, use the A/T button to hold your transmission in the gear you want it. A hold light will illuminate on your dashboard underneath the speedometer if the A/T light has been depressed. Hope this helps!

Service 4WD light illuminates on the dashboard message box

this is most commonly a electrical problem, does the speedometer read out correctly? if not it may be depending on if this is a Autotrak model, one f the two speeed sensors, or the acuator on the front diff, put the truck in 4wd, check the front dirveline to make sure it is engaing, if not your problem is in the t-case, if it does then move to the tires, if they are not engaged you have a problem with the actuator.

in most cases i have found the actuall 2wd 4wd switch to be the problem if you find that the switch is acting slow or you need to select the gear a few times before it shifts, then replace it these are very faulty

1995 subaru legacy l the dashboard lights are not working

  • Check fuse #9 at in car fuse panel
  • Check Illumination CTRL Module for melt-down
  • Check that Tail and Illumination relay is fully seated, top center of in-car fuse panel.
The relay is most likely the cause.

You will have to pull out the instrument cluster to replace that bulb, but, all that bulb does is tell you that your headlamps are on.

Shift lever light?

Hi,

I am assuming that you are referring to the PRNDL / gear shift indicator for Automatic Column Shifts, if so, then yes. Lights to provide back illumination for the PRNDL are normally wired together with the other dashboard/parklights. They are smaller than the standard dashboard bulbs.

BTW, I was made to understand that TJs with column shift automatic are very rare, my compliments.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back if I have not addressed your concern, how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
