No spark to spark plug wires

I have no spark to my spark plug wires. at first my car just died, i thought it was the fuel pump so i went and bought a new one and then i got my old one working. it was the ground wire having a bad connection. now i don't get a spark to my engine at all. i looked at my distributor cap and it seemed to be fine. so my question is why am i not getting a spark? thank you

sounds like the fuel pump is not getting fuel to the injectors - check the fuel filter and if that is not plugged up, then check the fuel manifold pressure - if it's about 10psi or more (when the ignition switch is on) then it's probably not the fuel system. it the ignition system okay (sparks to the plugs?) you could have a burned out coil or spark plug wires - or spark plugs - but since it was running, I'd check the fuel system first

I have a 1997 GMC Sierra. i was driving and it just shut off well I immediately thought fuel pump. so i towed it home and went to get a pump from autozone. i replaced the pump all the hoses are right it...

my first thought would be to check the mileage on the engine and then check to see it the cam shaft was turning ( broken timing belt/chain)
Next thought would be to get the fault codes read
I remember that GM has a massive recall for ignition switches that fail in service so I would be checking that out as well even before I spent money chasing a guess.

Coils and wires are the most likely culprits as they never get replaced hardly ever. You cant really test a coil, you can check for resistance on the plug wires but that doesnt tell you if the insulation is bad on them.

do you get fuel pump pressure, should be about 40 psi what about compression and spark on a saturn would be stronger due to many reasons one of which being different voltage of coils

this year model is notorious for fuel related probs...check the remainder of the fuel system, injectors, and the fuel pressure regulator also verify that the fuel pump is actually running and getting the correct amount of power to the pump itself..... it may not be bad just not getting enough power
