Daughter has 1998 beetle, no owners manual the radio is in the safe mode and not coming on vin 3vwbb61c61c6wm010615, how do i get this to work?

Hello Camille, you will need the code for the radio, if you don't have it, look in the trunk, VW likes to hide them in there, under the spare tire. If you can't find it, you will have to get it from the dealer per VIN number. Once you have the code follow this procedure.

1: Turn on the radio, "SAFE" will appear in the display
2: After 3 seconds, the number 1000 will appear in the display.
3: Use the radio station preset buttons 1 to 4 to enter the code number for your radio. Use preset button 1 to enter the first digit in the code number. Use button 2 to enter the second digit, etc. The value range for each of the 4 digits is "0...9". The digit will increase by 1 each time you tap the preset button. The number returns to "0" after "9".
4: After you finish entering the code, press the right side (">") of the SEEK button 10 for longer than 2 seconds until you hear an audible signal.
5: if you`ve entered the code number correctly, "LSM" will appear in the display.
6: Now you are ready to use the radio again.

I hope this information is helpful.

I SOLVED MY PROBLEM WITH MY RADIO , WHEN IT READS (SAFE) , HIT PROGRAM BUTTON , THEN NUMBERS 1000 SHOWS UP, THEN PUNCH IN CODE # FOR YOUR RADIO, AND THEN HOLD RIGHT SIDE OF SEEK BUTTON DOWN FOR ABOUT 2 SECONDS , THEN YER ROCKIN , HA,HA, ENTER THE WRONG CODE MORE THAN 2 TIMES AND YOU GOTTA WAIT FOR AN HOUR FOR THE UNIT TO UNLOCK , SO YOU CAN TRY AGAIN , BUT THE WHOLE THING TAKES 5 SECONDS

Had to replace battery on 01 VW Bettle where/how to find code to unlock radio?

If the code is not in the manual ( it usually is) you need to disconnect the battery for a while; usually 5-10 minutes is enough, sometimes as little as 30 seconds will do it. Look in the trunk under the floor mat on the metal surface at or near the spare tire and see if the sticker with the code is there. If the radio is the original one, there should be a small sticker with the serial number of the radio and the code underneath it.

Most dealers will not give out a code over the telephone because they have no way to verify that you own the vehicle. But if you live close enough to one, they can help you.

Need code for radio in a 1998 VW Beetle. Have VIN# an radio serial #. Any help will be appreciated.

You will need to inquire from the VW Servive Center. The Dealer is one of the few people that can call in and get the radio code.

First check your Owner's Manual in case a prior owner wrote it down insed the manual. Also look for a sticker inside the spare tire wheel well. For some model years VW placed the code on a sticker and then put it in that location. My daughter has a 98 VW Beetle and we had to inquire of the Service Department. They didn't charge us to obtain the code, and it took less than 5 minutes to obtain.

I need a unlock code for my radio VWZ9Z7X5006716, replaced my battery and lost my code please help me

Check for a sticker in the wheel well for your spare tire (inside the trunk). There may be a sticker with a 4-digit code. Otherwise you will need to get the code from a VW Dealer, but they will need the VIN # for your car and the Serial Number from your radio.

My radio is in safe mode i have no manuel

The radio usually goes into safe mode when the power to the radio is interrupted. You will need to know the radio "code" in oreder to re-program the radio. The code may either be found in your owner's manual if it was written there, or by going to the VW dealer. he will need the serial number for the radio (found on the rear of the radio) and the VIN number for your car. In some years the radio code was also put on a sticker inside the trunl by the spare tire, but maybe not in 1998.

I need the code for my 2003 VW Jetta stereo

Check inside your trunk wheel well by the spare tire. In some years they put the radio code on a sticker in that location. Otherwise you will need to take the radio serial number to the dealer along with your VIN number. They can then give you the code. Better if it's the original radio with the car.

Just got 2002 vw beetle...can't turn safety off radio

There is a radio code, but you may need to go to the VW dealer to get it. First look inside your trunk in the spare tire wheel well to see if there is a sticker there. The radio code is four (4) numbers. If not the dealer will need the serial number of the radio along with your VIN number. Most dealers provide the radio code at no cost when asked.

98 VW Beetle used-no radio code- I have radio & car serial #'s...

I assume you have this unlocked by now, but here's an answer for someone else for the future :-)
if you have the original radio that come with the car, look in the wheel well in the trunk, where the spare tire goes. (yep, you'll need to stand on your head). there is a sticker that will have the 4-digit code on it.
enter that into the radio.
I can't remember off the top of my head which one it is, but either the >> Scan or the am/fm button will be the "enter key"
