My key is stuck in the engine, how do i get it out?

    Why is the key stuck in the engine,and what part of the engine is it stuck in,and I will try and help.

You can remove the key by pushing the shifter all the way to the left and turning the key at the same time and the key will release. This problem is caused by a bad solenoid in the shifter assembly and is covered under the powertrain warranty.

If it is broken off in the ignition, I would suggest a really small super strong magnet or some silly puddy. Sounds goofy but it has worked for me on numerous occaisions.

without starting the vehicle, turn the key just to the first click press the brake and see if you can put the car into neutral, if so, start the engine while there in neutral and then put it in drive and drive it to the dealer

car will only start in park or neutral. key will not come out unless in park. perhaps the car isnt fully in park

MY CAR ENGINE TURNS ON BUT THE KEY IS STUCK IN THE IGNITION AND THE GEAR SHIFTER IS STUCK IN PARK


Underneath the hood follow the linkage coming through the firewall to a cotter keyed rod, take cotter key out, move linkage until the above column shows it is in "N" re install the cotter key in this new position, the key should be loose enough to remove now...Check for worn key lobes, and have a new key recut with computer chip, they ARE expensive...

Ignition key gets stuck and car won't start


you might need to replace ignition key cylinder assy and replace current key, now, sometimes if this is a automatic transmission it might have problem with shifter interlock cable try moving shifter from park to first and back to park and try removing key again, but if key gets stuck and car won't start, does the key turns? does the engine cranks? are you using the correct key?

Is the gear shift button stuck in, if so hit the gear shift a couple of time and that should unstick the botton, allowing you to remove your key
