U need to clean the throttle valve and the idle speed control valve, when u disconnected the cable u lost the so called idle learned strategy that compenstes for idle speed loss as the intake parts get sludged up, here is how u clean the system.

, I want you to get a can of intake cleaner (ABOUT $5.00) from any local auto parts store like NAPA or Carquest, do not use carburetor spray, intake cleaner only or u will damage the Teflon coating inside the throttle valve and air bypass valve, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.

Engine idles rough in gear aaand got code b1318 indicating low battery voltage at module. it doesn't say which module. any tips

There could be an energy leak, like a bad wire, insulation frayed, or battery connections are coated. Check and clean the poles and wires. If Old they may be dry and cracking.

Idles rough multiple codes

Hello Amy, not a POS, just has quirks like all vehicles do. It's a very good engine. I'm going to address the bad idle which is very common after the battery was disconnected for any reason. This is a job that you can do yourself for around $8. Remove fuses # 10 and # 28 under the hood, then remove the throttle body and clean both sides with a sensor safe spray like Seafoam. It's just 4 bolts and a electrical connector that it. This will solve your rough idle when every your AC or Defroster are on. The other lights, do they go off if you turn the car off and restart with the steering wheel pointing straight?

Battery light stays on all the time on my 1985 E250 ford van, i changed the alternator, changed the voltage regulator changed starter silonoid, and it does not hold a charge after jumping!

u need to chek for batt volts at the pos pole on the bak of alt.should b batt voltage if not then wire from pos pole on back of alternator to battery could be broken, causing no output tobattery. wiggl voltage regulator wires while engine runs an check volts with a voltmeter to see if it jumps to over 13v wen wiggling connector.also chek fuses an fusible links for continuity.

The car will not run and when i turn the ignition it only clicks. I tried jump starting it but it won't do anything. When i turn the lights on their powerful and not dim a t all i bought a new battery two...

You are going to have to put a new battery in, or charge the battery in it now up to11-13 volts. The computer is not getting voltage, and I suspect that the battery cables, possibly the neg cable is corroded inside the clamp and not allowing enough voltage to get to the starter or the computer. Take the neg and pos cable clamps off and using a piece of sandpaper or emery cloth clean the inside of the clamps, and the outside of the battery pole. re-assemble and try to charge the battery up. The jump start should work now, but be careful that you have the correct pole to pole as a reversal would destroy the diodes in your alternator.

I have a vw golf 1.6 gli 2000 model with an automatic gearbox. To take off, I have to rev over 3000 revs bfore it can take off and thereafter gear changes become normal. What could be the problem?

Must be low on ATF, takes time to pressurize the TQ converter. It could also be a dirty filter that needs replacing. Or it need to re-learn the gas pedal position as in reference to idle pos and wide open throttle. Also needs to re-learn when the kick-down occurs. Hooking it to VAG 1551 scan tool or equivalent will significantly help determine whats going on with the transmission. That process of re-learning is called "Adaptation". When parts where either replaced, temporarily disconnected or simply cutting power from the battery by removing cable clamps from the poles will send the system back to default positions.

With the aid of a scan tool, you can program and set it up depending in country, climate and model of the vehicle.

Had sugar pourded in gastank

Check to see if your alternator is charging. You can do this by having the vehicle jump started or with a borrowed battery. while the vehicle is idling, remove the pos battery pole.. if it cuts off .. then ypur alternator is bad or the charging circuit ( like a break in the line or fuse etc.)

Computer brain is not functioning

Disconnecting the battery is what resets the computer on this model year. Try disconnecting the Pos battery cable for 15 minutes. If the problem presists after connecting the battery up again, you have a problem with Idle Air Control, EGR Valve, etc.
