Sometimes the steel of a key gets worn out pretty fast. otherwise a bit of oil should do the trick. oil the key with penetration oil and insert in and out the keyhole. lubrication is key. good luck

Here are some suggestions about the key stuck problems for them.

Most often key stuck in the ignition and unable to lock the car where as the key is not broken. This situation might be occurred due to problem in shifter mechanism which means that your shift interlock is out of order. The shift interlock button wont release the gear shift to go in park or drive

Its a simple fix - you just need to put your right hand underneath the dash, under the ignition switch with the stuck key, and feel around for the stiff transmission-shift-lock cable, and just giggle it about a bit. Try all directions, don't be aggressive with it; and eventually you will be able to turn the key to the LOCK position. Good luck

I took the cover off the steering column by removing 4 screws. (I had to remove the dash by removing 2 screws behind the Hood release and yanking the cover off. This is how you gain access to the two forward most bolts on the steering column cover.) From hear you should see the shift interlock on the top right of the sterring column. Pull the white lever to release the key lock. Turn the key to lock and remove your key.
I would then purchase a new interlock and replace it.

The button on the shifter is stuck and key wont turn or come out. Button on shifter wont release so the key is stuck in the first position like if you wanted to turn on just the radio

okay there is a compartment under your steering column open and look directly under your ignition youll see a release button, that will get your key out, take the car to chevy and have them check it out, this will happen continuously if you dont and it can evolve into many other problems according to many other car forums, hope this helps

Key Stuck in ythe ingnition

There is a hole under the steering column right near the ignition switch, if the key gets stuck, stick a pen or something in the hole, you will feel the little lever move and you can remove the key.

1997 Pontiac Gran Am Key problem

There is a solenoid & plunger next to the ignition switch inside the steering column that stops functioning. The plunger must be retracted in order for the switch to turn all the way so the key can be removed. manually insert the plunger and take out the key.

2006 Chevy Cobalt - key stuck in ignition;car has basically gone into shutdown mode. Any clue as to what this issue might be?

Went thru this with the neighbor. At the 6:00 position under the column is a plastic panel. Remove it with small screwdriver. Using index finger , press on white plastic button. This releases switch and allows you to remove key. Replace plastic panel.
