SOURCE: i am getting a p1383 dtc code

This may be caused by: Variable Camshaft Timing (VCT) control system stuck with a machining chip or VCT hollow oil feed bolt being plugged with debris. Try changing oil first and see if this helps. If it doesn't I would suggest taking it to an experienced tech.

SOURCE: check engine light is lit

Hi.

P1383 is one of Jaguar's own codes. You can find the code even in other engines (e.g. Ford). P1383 means : Variable Cam Timing Overretarded (Bank #1).

Symptoms:Rough idle, engine stalling.

Here possible causes:

  • Cam timing improperly set.
  • Continuous oil flow to the VCT piston chamber.
  • VCT solenoid valve stuck open.
  • Camshaft advance mechanism binding (VCT unit).

  • Solution: the part in the Variable Cam Timing listed above must be tested and repaired.

    Regards.

How to fix a vacuum leak on 2002 mercury mystic

With engine cold, start vehicle and spray small amounts of starting fluid where vacuum hoses run. If you hear engine RPM changes, inspect hoses for signs of wear (cracks. cuts, breaks). Can also pinch hoses, one at a time and listen to engine.

1998 mercury mystic i changed the intake 0n my4 cylindes engine now want idle obd codepo122 and1504

Code 122 is for a problem with the throttle position sensor, and code 1504 is a problem with the idle air control valve.
Check these components and make sure they are hooked up and working.

Looking to buy a 1997 Mercury Mystique. There is a rattle coming from under a black plastic cover near the serpanetine belt. Is that where the timing belt is? How much would replacing it cost

Sounds like you are correct and the timing belt is worn. To replace the belt will cost you around $200. The Mercury Mystic and Ford Contour clone are very unreliable vehicles and my advise is to walk away. There are much better cars that you can buy in this price range.

When a cam sensor us going bad on a 99 mercury mystic what to do?

The faster you get the sensor changed the better.
The sensor could short out. The sensor could take out the computer. The computer recieves electrical input and sends it back to the sensor .

Once the sensor goes completely out, You will not be able to start the car ,
