Most of the time this is a result of a clogged EVAP canister

easiest way to confirm this is to remove the evap line on the gas tank and then try to fill the vehicle....if it fills normally then we are on the right track

here is a picture of the EVAP system..follow the lines from the charcoal canister and start at the fuel tank

1984 S10 wont run fuel coming out at pump but doesnt seem to supply carb. has new filer. when primed it runs for a few seconds.

Is this a carbed engine, that usually means mechanical fuel pump? Take fuel line loose from carb, aim into container, crank engine, does gas flow? If so, have to check float bowl in carb to see if any gas, if no gas, need a carb kit in my opinion.
I don't know liter size of engine? If fuel injected, let us know.

Check gas cap message

Gas cap probably need to be replaced, their inexpensive. The gas cap controls the amount of air entering the gas tank, and only a certain amount of air is susposed to be let in while the car is running. If theres not enough air, or too much air coming through the cap into the tank, the computer will sense this, thus giving you this message

I have a 1992 svx and my air conditioner does not get cold enough to be comfortable it might need refrigerant how would i go about doing that myself and what type of refrigerant

hi the refridgerant changed in certain models but all the details should be written in the engine bay somewhere like the amount needed and the type, but you will also need the right gauges for the gas and scales to measure the amount your putting in

At first the truck had a problem starting. the check engine light would come on for sometime then disappear before i had time to check the code. you had to pump the gas pedal then hold it for a certain...

Yes. I would take off the starter motor, and take it in to be bench tested at an auto parts store. If it passes, check all wires going to it. The gas pedal issue could have been A) It wasn't getting enough power to pump enough fuel in at small loads, or B) It was starting so slow, it needed more fuel to kick over.

The gas gage on my 2002 deville does not register correctly. I never know how much gas I have. What are the problem areas to consider?

The problem is either a faulty fuel sending unit located inside of the fuel tank, the wiring between the fuel sending unit and the fuel gauge, or the fuel gauge itself is malfunctioning.

A good repair shop can find out for you which one is at fault by dis-connecting the wiring connector to the fuel sending unit and then use an adjustable ohms box to simulate the fuel sending unit, and the fuel gauge should read at a certain level of fuel according to the amount of ohms being put through the wire.
