Your car is equipped with a computer controlled engine management system (ECU /ECM). Scan your computer for fault or error codes. The information should pinpoint the malfunctioning components. Your idle speed control motor is what we would look at.

Your problem may be an IAC (idle air control) valve. Also, check for a faulty EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) valve that may be sticking open, and check the vacumm hose.

Hope help with this.

I set my trucks RPM on a low setting, from inside, no engine tampering. Now it is warmer. My truck is still running at a low RPM, seems too low for current temperature. How can I adjust my RPM?

how did you adjust a pre-programmed ECU idle settings ??? please be more specific

the vehicle's ECU is pre-programmed to run higher than 1000 rpms while in "open loop mode" then idle back down to ~750 rpms once the engine reaches operating temperature "closed loop mode"

did you tap into the OBD 2 port and used a laptop to change the settings?

My 1991 Buick Regal (3.1 engine) use to start a high RPMs and then slowly, as the engine warms up, the RPMs would come down to about 800, which is the normal. However a few weeks ago, it started to start...

Hi,
You need to get your engine coolant thermistor checked and tested. This is what tells the ECM when the engine temperature is at normal working temperature and turns the idle down.
But when the idle won't come down from cold to warm this is usually the main fault.
Hope this helps.
Thanks

What will happen if thermostat is removed from Nissan TD27 engine? will there be a coolant circulation through -out the engine or coolant in the radiator will only circulate?

your engine will never reach operating temperature, and turn over operation to the pcm. you will burn much more fuel and have poor performance. the coolant will circulate fairly normally, however your heater will probably blow luke warm air.

I have a 1995 isuzu pickup it giving me error codes 15 and 34 and I've already been to 3 repair shops and can't get it fixed can you give me some help

I have the manual for my 93 rodeo and code 15 says ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR-SENSOR SIGNAL SHORTED, GROUNDED OR OUT OF RANGE. Check your coolant sensor by the water neck-it sends a signal to your dash gauge (coolant temp)
Code 34 my book has 2 symptoms- if its a 3.1 liter engine it says MAP SENSOR-SIGNAL VOLTAGE LOW-CHECK INCORRECT IDLE SPEED, VACUUM LEAKS, LOOSE AIR DUCT, MAP SENSOR CIRCUIT
If its NOT a 3.1 liter engine, then code 34 is EGR TEMPERATURE SENSOR CIRCUIT-SHORTED

Hope this helps.

1994 toyota pickup idling problems

Could be a throttle position sensor going bad or a loose or leaking vacumm line or loose or worn wiring harness. You had mentioned the engine starts heating up. Do you mean overheating or operating above normal temperature? Sounds like a vacumm issue with the fluctuating idle. Check for worn vacumm lines and check to see if the vacumm is functioning. Sometimes a simple vacumm line with a loose connection or a small hole in it can affect your idle. Old lines are easily replaceable and an inexpensive place to start, then try your egr valve, pcv valve, brake booster vacumm line, oxygen sensor could be worn and affecting the mapping of fuel and air on the computer. Usually the check engine light will come on in this case.

1995 toyota pickup, surging at around 2000 rpms

Is the check engine light on?

A major cause of surging is either air leaks between the air flow meter and the engine intake manifold, or a bad or mis-adjusted throttle position sensor.
