Question about 1988 Chevrolet S-10
The steering columns in these trucks are not real hard to dismantle, but you will need a steering wheel puller in order to get to the ignition switch. Remove the steering wheel, disconnect the horn wire first, then you will see a round plastic retainer cover thats held in by a "c" clip. This could be a ***** to get out- you have to depress the spring loaded cover while trying to remove the clip. Once that is done, you have to unscrew the white plastic signal/hazzard gizmo( 3 screws & pull it out carefully) You should be able to see a small hex head bolt that holds the tumbler/ ignition switch in the column. Remove it and just pull the switch out. Put it back together ( easier than taking it apart) after you replace the ign switch. *hint: a chrome switch is cheaper than black by about 8 bucks.
