If you touched any of the A/C controls within 45 seconds of starting your Suburban (after the battery change), you messed up the 'calibration mode' of the HVAC.

Pull the HVAC fuse (10amp) under the hood, and pull the two adjacent fuses (30 and 10amp) under the dash listed as 'climate control' in the manual.

Push the fuses back in, restart your car, but DONT TOUCH ANY of the A/C controls for 90 seconds.

I bet the A/C starts working again normally.

To clarify - - if the truck has rear and heat, you have two heater cores and two evaporator cores. The evap cores carry the freon.
If the leak is in the evap core in the front, the price is probably right.

Replaced the battery on a GMC Sierra 2005. Turned AC on, it cooled for about a minute and started blowing hot air on the driver side, the passenger side blows cold. What does replacing the battery have to...

you have taken the calibration out of sink. you will now have to remove battery power again for about 5 minutes. after this time reconnect the battery. then turn key to on position for 3 minutes but do not touch the heater control or temperature controls. This should allow the heater and ac system to recalibrate. once the 3 minutes is up turn key off and then back on and start truck.. Try your controls again and see what happens. if no change then dealer will have to reprogram the heater control calibration for you.

AC cools then blows hot air, tempature needle goes up & down

Sounds like the thermostat is trying to stick, and is causing the engine to over heat, therefore condenser is not cooling the freon down enough to cool.Have the thermostat changed and the cooling system bled out, this is most likely the cause.

WHERE IS THE EXPANSION VALVE

Don't worry...the heat you feel on the rear side of ac is absolutely normal. that is why you always see the rear-end of ac's sticking out of windows every where...it's to expel the heat outside and not in your house.

2004 suburban rear a/c only blows hot air

ase mechanic:
there are separate actuators for the blend doors. one for heat and one for cool. they work opposite and in conjuction with each other, if that makes any sense. ones open, ones close, for each different climate. sounds like the the cold one isn't opening in the rear.

Duel climate control acting up

On most climate control systems you must have the ignition switch in the on position when you put the battery cables back on the battery. Then let the car sit for about 1 minute for reset. Put the neg cable on first then the pos cable on last .This should do it
good luck
