There is no way to tell if the switch failed or the starter failed at this time. Replacing a part without properly diagnosing the problem is going to get costly if you replace parts for no reason. Plus you wont love your car anymore if you guess wrong.

HELP! My 2000 plymouth neon wont crank and no mechanic i bring it to can figure it out!!

If the headlights and dashboard lights are working but the vehicle still does not start, the ignition switch is most likely the problem. or a bad wire from switch. If your battery checks out, but the starter is still silent, it may be a faulty ignition switch. Turn the key to the on position (not all the way to start). If the red warning lights on your dash don't light up (and your battery connections are clean), the ignition switch is bad. If they do light up, turn the key to the start position. The dash warning lights should turn off at this key position (most cars). If you're not sure, turn on the headlights. When you try to start the car, the lights should either dim (a lot) or turn off completely. If they do, your ignition switch should be ok. If not, the switch will need replacement. check the wires to starter and see if you have power when car is switched on, do this first! good-day! if it cranks but does not start. check to see if spark and fuel, and check all fuses also.

96 Olds Aurora wont start nothing happens when i turn the key, battery is good.

CHECK THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FOR POWER TO GAUGES TO SEE IF THEY WORK WHILE IGNITION IS IN THE ON POSITION.IF NO CHECK THE 40 AMP IGNITION FUSE.IF FUSE GOOD IGNITION SWITCH IS BAD OR HAS A LOOSE OR BROKEN WIRE.IF FUSE GOOD ALL GAUGES IS WORKING.I BE LOOKING AT STARTER AND STARTER SOLENOID.REMOVE THEM HAVE AUTO ZONE TEST STARTER.OR YOU CAN GET A REMOTE STARTER SWITCH AND SET OF BATTERY CABLES.HOOK BATTERY CABLES TO A BATTERY.WITH STARTER OUT OF CAR TAKE BATTERY CABLES HOOK NEGATIVE BATTERY TO STARTER BODY FOR GOOD GROUND.TAKE POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE HOOK TO STARTER POSITIVE TERMINAL WHERE POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE GOES.THEN HOOK THE REMOTE SWITCH RED WIRE TO STARTER POSITIVE TERMINAL AND THE OTHER REMOTE SWITCH WIRE TO THE S OR SWITCH TERMINAL ON STARTER SOLENOID.PRESS THE REMOTE SWITCH IS STARTER RUNS GOOD WITH NO FUNNY NOISES ITS GOOD IF STARTER DONT RUN THE STARTER SOLENOID OR STARTER IS BAD. THE PROBLEMS IN YOUR CAR COULD BE A BAD KEY TRY ANOTHER KEY YOUR CAR HAS THE THEFT DETERRENT MODULE SYSTEM BEST TO HAVE CAR SCAN TO CHECK THE THEFT SECURITY MODULE AND THE TRANSMISSION NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH IF ITS BAD STARTER WONT WORK.ALSO CHECK THE THEFT DETERRENT MODULE RELAY. BEFORE REMOVING BATTERY CABLES TURN OFF RADIO SO YOU WONT LOSE YOUR RADIO PLAYING CODE.

Are there any main fuses on a 2001 plymouth neon

Have you checked the starter solenoid. Your battery + cable connects to this then + cable runs from it to your starter. You also have an ignition switch wire connected to this. Just follow your cable from the battery and it will lead you right to the part. Some times these will break inside or the contacts go bad inside and therefore you will not get power to start the engine, but you will have power to turn on lights or whatever other accessories. The part is about $15

Dodge neon 2001 will not crank at all. battery is

solenoid is part of the starter so best bet is to remove and have tested at an auto parts store.

2001 dodge neon key turns no noise no click fuel pump doesn't even turn on, changed steering column out was fine before that.

Sounds like either the ignition switch on the column is not working or you have an ignition fuse blown. Check and make sure the switch is plugged up and have power coming out of it with key on. If no power coming out check the fuses then the switch. should fix the issue.

I have a 96 audi a6 and the key is now stuck in the ignition. Car starts and runs but the key will not come out. Just happened out of the blue...

I would try WD-40, spraying down beside the key with a spray nozzle on the end before I took it to a repair shop or pulled the steering wheel.

The battery is good but there is no click or any noise when start

First, establish that there is 12v at the battery (with a volt meter) then remove terminal ends and clean contact surfaces. Check that there is 12v at the main starter terminal and 12v at the starter trigger wire with the key turned to the start positon. If not, check starter relay, neutral safety switch and ignition switch. Make sure battery ground wire on engine is also clean and secure.

New battery & still won't start. Won't even make a noise. DEAD!

sounds like you have a problem with either the ignition switch itself or the solenoid on the starter if you jump positive power to the small wire on your starter and it turns the starter then it would be your ignition switch if it does not turn it replace your starter

could be ign switch, relay, fuse, bad starter, corrosion on the battery cables, faulty starter cable, bad battery, corrosion on the starter, dead battery, bad alternator that allowed the battery to go dead, wrong key, bad key, worn key... shall I continue?
