Question about 1995 Volkswagen Jetta

1 Answer

We are testing a 1995 VW Jetta, automatic 4 cyl engine. We had no trouble with it last night. Made several stops and it started up just fine. This morning, the key won't turn in the ignition. Key fits in the slot all the way, but won't turn. We've moved the steering wheel back and forth (no help), looked for a button the steering column to press while we turned (no luck) and the car is firmly in park. Any clues?

If you have a ton of keys on the key chain that house the car key remove them. Then try starting the car. If this doesn't work then the release button either off the brake pedal or the shifter is stuck. Have it towed to a shop this envolves surgery.

1995 jetta 4 cyl. trans fluid coming from bell housing. possible converter seal? I was told it's necessary to remove engine and trans together. is this true? first vw repair for me. thanks

It is most like the front pump seal, or converter seal. You can remove the transmission without removing the motor. It's a tight fit.
