Window Systems - Window Motor & Regulator

  1. Remove the door trim panel.
  2. Remove the water deflector.
  3. For rear window, remove the rear speaker.
  4. Disconnect the window from the regulator carrier plate.
  5. Position the window in the full up position and tape it to the window frame.
  6. Disconnect the electrical connector from the window regulator motor.
  7. Loosen the bolts on the window regulator motor.
  8. Loosen the bolts on the window regulator rail.

  2. Position the window regulator rail through the access hole first.

NOTE Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
  4. Install the window regulator into the key slots. Attach the regulator to the motor and the rail. Secure the regulator with bolts and tighten the bolts to 97 inch lbs. (11Nm).
  5. Remove the tape and position the window to the regulator carrier plate.
  6. Connect the window to the regulator carrier plate.
  7. Connect the electrical connector to the window regulator motor.

'99 Lexus. Why won't the passenger side front window go up or down?

When a cable breaks or comes off on a window regulator you're generally stuck buying a new one. I've fiddled with a few trying to fix them and it hasn't worked. Some window regulators are quite inexpensive, check on it before racking your brain and/or knuckles trying to fix it.

Rear passenger window drivers side wont work - mitsubishi 380

hi

380 Mitsubishi's have a electric window regulator problem

front and back regulators are notorious for breaking and failing.

some times the cables also come off or the plastic components attached to the cables break

the motor turns a plastic wheel that winds the cables back and forward and this wheel jams or the cables come off the guides.

anyway the short answer is to change the whole regulator with a secondhand or a new one depending on your budget

i hope this helps

cheers

Front passenger-side window stuck in down position. Is it most likely a motor, track,or electric fuse problem?

oscar, just in case it is the regulator, buy a new one at a parts store or on ebay. then take the car to an auto glass store and have them put it in for you. they have the tools, the experience, and the fasteners needed. if it turns out it was only a fastener, then you have already replaced the regulator which will go in a year or two anyway and you will know just how to do this when your driver side fails.
I have had 5 saturns, the window regulators rarely make it to 8, the wiper motors and automatic transmissions are nothing to write home about either.

My passenger window is stuck up and my 2 back windows fall down and wont roll up

The regulators need replaced in the back ones the front one could be a window motor or a bad switch. Unplug the window motors and hook them up directly to a battery supply of 12 volt power and see if they go up and down. If the motor runs and the track doesnt the cable is broken. If the front window motor doesnt move replace the regulator and motor assembly

Front passenger side window is stuck in the down position

Sounds like the regualte or push arm is broken. If there is no spound then sounds like the regulator. The inside door trim has to be taken off, find the regualator, remove and replace should be ok then.

Where is the motor located for the passenger window in a 1996 Ford Aeostar van? I have opened the panel but do not see the motor or anyway to access one. The window is stuck in the down position.

It's in there. The window is on a cable system to raise and lower. You can follow the cable and find the motor. Some of them are really hard to get to and you have to remove the whole regulator to get to the motor.

have the window regulator checked. If you are hearing clicking from both sides, your regulators are worn/damaged. Hopefully this helps

Front passenger window does not work

sounds like bad regulator, pull your door panel apart and it is the part that goes onto the motor. long bow shaped thing with cable attached. pop out rivets, (I think 3 rivets) and on the upper side there are 2 nuts that have to be removed. then wiggle it around till you can get it out of the biggest hole in door. Good Luck.

Passenger window will not go up or down

I had the same problem a few years ago except my window was stuck up. There is a cable inside the door that controls the window (not sure what it's called). Anyway, that cable was broken so the motor was working but not the window. Take the door panel off and you should be able to see the cable and if it's still attached correctly.
