Visit one of the larger auto parts stores and request the free scanner readout. This van has had problems with EGR and the #1 spark plug fouling. The tech will provide the code that should steer you in the right direction.

Driving along and it just kills but can put in neutral and restart


Sensors going bad can easily cause this. If was a computer or heating issue it wouldn't start right back up. If crankshaft sensor is going bad the second it doesn't signal computer the car dies.

You may have a bad pick up coil in the distributor or a bad distributor. What also to look at is the throttle position sensor. That may have a dead spot it.

My car kills when at idle. has low r/min at idle.


Check the Idle Air Ctrl (IAC) motor. It should allow air to bypass the throttle plate when starting and at idle. if it is not working it could cause veh. to stall.

The battery has run down flat or the starter has gone bad. check the two.

try checking these things out:
chec the wire connections at the distributor, coil, altenator
check your fuel pressure
check for vacuum leaks on all lines and at the throttle body and the intake manifold
also check your distributor cap to see if it has a crack in it

It acts like its out of gas and isnt but if u have it hooked up to another vehicle to keep battery from dying it will start then drives fine and if you kill it the van starts right back but after sitting...


Check the ignition switch by pressing and holding the key hard into the ignition and try starting. If it does not start right away, problem is elsewhere.
