DRAIN THE OIL. REPLACE THE OIL DRAIN PLUG. REMOVE THE BOLTS AROUND THE EDGE OF THE OIL PAN. TAKE A FLAT HEAD SCREWDRIVER AND GENTLY PRY THE OIL PAN DOWN. REMOVE OILPAN. MAKE SURE THAT THE MATING SURFACE IS CLEAN AND THAT THE OLD GASKET IS COMPLETELY REMOVED. INSTALL IS REVERSE OF REMOVAL.

2000 jeep grand cherokee laredo. It is surging between 1500 and 2000 RPM since I picked it up from auto shop...had the rear main seal replaced along with idler arm and bearing and oil pan gasket. Why is it...

Take it back to the last people that worked on it!!!!! If it wasn't like that when you took it there, it shouldn't do it when you get it back.
You paid them money,,,,make them earn ALL OF IT.

I have a 2000 jeep grand cherokee v8 i have to change the oil pan and i was wondering if you have to lift the motor to change the oil pan

Most times it's easier to unbolt the shocks and the sway bar links and permit the differential to drop. (use jackstands under the body/frame and a jack underneath the diff itself so it does not fall)...Generally that should give you enough clearance.

If you have zero oil pressure thats a BAD sign, first have a mechanic check what the engines actual oil pressures are.
