I have done an engine overhaul and need to assemble it back so I am looking for engine timing marks for a Ford Ranger 2.5 D engine a 1999 model.

How did you do the rest of the "overhaul" without knowing all engine specs? Crank at TDC, oil pump at 12 o' clock, (diamond) cam gear is marked approx 5 o' clock (triangle) on plastic cover.

Does the transmission need to be removed to replace a rear freeze plug on a 2000 ranger(v6-3.0l) & if so, what is the process to removing tranny?

Depends if it's one in the block or heads. In the block YES, in the head no but it's a BEAR of a job and you should almost have special tools to do it. If you're going to do it, I would rec. pulling trans.

1999 ford ranger timing marks 2.5

One is on the crank shaft pully (for TDC). It is a line, scribed on the pully, that alligns to a pointer on the plastic timing belt cover. The second is on the cam shaft pully. It can be accessed by removing the rubber inspection plug on the timing belt cover. The third is on the auxillary shaft (oil pump) and is also accessed through an inspection plug on the timing belt cover.

On the cam and oil pump pullies, the diamond aligns to the diamond and the triangle aligns to the triangle (the pullies have both). These should be perfectly aligned when the crankshaft pully line is at 0 deg TDC. If you can't see the marks through the inspection port while the crank is at 0 TDC, you are 180 degrees out - turn the crank one more time.

Have a 2000 ford ranger, 2.5 engine, timing belt broke put new one on and now cant get it to start

Damn. Bad news friend. That truck has what is known as an "interference engine" Which meant that if the timing belt brakes while the engine is running the pistons will hit the open valves and destroy them and possibly damaging the pistons as well.

So now you either need to do 1 of 3 things, 1 have the head removed and rebuilt, 2 have the head removed and replaced with a new/used one, or 3 replace the engine entirely.

If you replaced the belt yourself then you are probably capable of replacing the head yourself. Just get one from a junk yard, swap it for the old one and your good to go. While you have the head off take a look at the pistons to make sure they are ok.

Personally I would just swap the engine for one from the boneyard. They are relatively cheap. I'm sure this is the last thing you wanted to hear but unfortunately until you do one of the 3 things i mentioned she will never run again. Good luck, If you have any more questions shoot me an email 19wrench75@gmail.com

Trying to put timing marks wright on a1995 ranger

Your question states both 94 and 95 for model year.
94 and 95 ranger had a 2.3L.

  1. If not done:
    1. Loosen tensioner adjusting bolt.
    1. Using Camshaft Belt Tension Adjusting Tool T74P-6254-A, pry tensioner clockwise against spring tension as far as possible.
    1. Tighten adjusting bolt to hold tensioner in released position.
  1. Align crankshaft so number one piston is at TDC (top dead center) with crankshaft key pointing straight up and circle on crankshaft sprocket (6306) aligned with notch in engine front cover (6019) .
  1. Align triangle on camshaft sprocket with triangle on inner timing belt cover.
  1. Align diamond on oil pump sprocket with diamond on inner timing belt cover.
