If the key has been dropped or kept near a high magnetic item (a tv screen)it will go out,use the spare until you can get all keys reprogrammed together

Sounds like it could be a problem with the ignition switch.
Does the vehicle stall or keep running? Do the lights go out or do the stay on until you cycle the key? Have you tried Turing the key a little back and forth when this happens to see if the problem goes away?
On 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4WD 5.2L MFI 8cyl the OBD Diagnostic Link Connector is located under hood, passenger side, front engine area, corner, mounted on fenderwell.

I've had my 2005 Grand Cherokee into the dealer 5 times for the same issue and they've replaced a bunch of stuff, but have not found the problem yet. A quick fix, I've found, is to jiggle the key in the ignition. Doesn't fix the problem, but it does stop everything from going crazy! Let me know if anyone has the actual fix.
Not usually too difficult, but once you locate it, you'll see. Some are under hood at firewall on passenger side area, and some are right on the housing under dash on passenger side, usually close to blower motor connection.
