If is does it if you rev the engine in park it may have a bad engine. If only in gear it may have a bad drive axle which is making noise.

A loud knocking noise like you've described if it's in the lower end of the engine, is usually a Crankshaft Rod Bearing. If the knocking noise is in the top end of the engine, it is usually a lifter or a rocker arm. Either one doesn't sound good and can be expensive. You can continue driving until it stops completely or you can do as the autozone suggested and use an oil thickner such as STP although none of them work very long or quiet them down for long.

No if the oil light has flickered you have oil pressure loss some time just belive the sensor do help us out. lifter do not cause oil pressure loss pressure is built in the rotation of the crankshaft. The knock under the plenum will point you to that cylinder that is affected, (main bearing) as for a 1995 the injectors can only cause a misfire but no knocking noise, will they honor the warranty

Knocking noise

Not good to have a knocking noise.
An engine knock can be serious signs of engine failure coming soon....whatever it is have it looked at right away before you have a complete break down on your hands.

2003 PT Cruiser. Check engine light, code cheked at auto parts store indicates a transmission issue. knocking noise when running but is loader at idle. Added ATF and got better, but noise came back.

if the noise is definitely coming from the tranny, you need to stop driving or get it to a shop before the tranny is completely destroyed. a rebuild is cheaper than a new one.

Probably one of your rod bearings is going out and knocking when under load. Get it fixed before it stops completely.

Knocking noise in the engine.

You have a Lifter and Rocker Arm Tapping. You will need to Take off the Valve Covers and Listen for the Tap. When you Locate it Tighten Down Until it stops and then Back it off 1/8 of a Turn.
