Question about 1999 Honda Accord

1999 Honda Accord EX won't shift out of park. It is stuck. I think it's the shift lock solenoid but I'm not sure. How do I get the car out of park. I pushed the brake in but the button on the gear shifter won't go in.

If you press the Break pedal and the shift button does not engage, Your Solenoid did not activate to release it out of park. either the: solenoid is out - Bent levers - Solenoid harness disconnected - Break activation wire may be damaged. this piece is easy to replace as it sits on the right side (passanger side) of the shift lever. remove center console cover to access the soleniod which is held on by two 10mm nuts. and a C- clamp

SOURCE: GEAR SHIFT

The most likely problem is the locking mecanism in your shif selector.
There is a selenoid that prevent the car from get it out of park unless you push the brake pedal while the car is running or the ignition switch is on.
The problem could be in the brake switch itself under the dash or the selenoid in the shifter console.

Honda Accord 1993 EX is stuck on Park. It doesn't budge if I start the car and it doesn't budge if i try to shift to N,P,D4,D3

Use your ignition key and stick it straight down into the slot marked shift lock, next to the shifter. That will allow you to shift it into neutral. Leave it there, remove the key from that slot and start the car. You will then be able to shift into drive, from neutral, and be on your way.

What causes a 1998 honda accord ex to lock up an not go in gear

If the brake sensor at the pedal brake is malfunctioning, or the cable became unattached, the car will "think" you are not depressing the pedal, and therefore, will not allow you to shift it out of park. One way you can tell if this switch is working, is by looking (from inside the vehicle) at the reflection of the 3rd stop light on the rear glass. If you cant see the light working, then you can be sure that the brake pedal switch is the culprit.

93 honda accord the automatic trans wont shift auto but works great shifting manually, how do I fix it

your having a transmission problem, common problem are the shift solenoids get dirty and won't let it shift, have them taken off and cleaned, they have little screens on bottom of them.change the fluid at same time. clicking noise is normal when you step on brake when in park this click is from the interlock solenoid under center console.

I don't know if this will help but I 'll give you my experience .... I have a 90 accord ex 2.2 l ( love these hondas) and my s light kept flashing .... I bought a book , took it to honda of fife they said i needed a new computer 750 bucks yaeh right....... I did some tweakin under the hood and found a broken transmission solenoid sensor wire and fixed that and noticed my tranny fluid level was a quart over full, so i drained some out.... used an ohm reader and found one faulty temp sensor of 4 or 5 , changed that (the main one for the fans) anyhow I am almost certain all my troubles stemed from the computer getting the over full signal or the faulty tranny solenoid reading..... now everything is top on it .... but before the computer kept me locked out of half of my tranny, ...........
