Question about 2000 Toyota Camry Solara

1 Answer

Keeps blowing starter fuse when you turn the key to start engine.

2000 toyota camry Keeps blowing starter fuse 4amp when you turn key to start then if you jump the starter and run engine the dash fuse 10amp will blow. I tried replacing the PCM. Just recently replaced the motor but no wires are near anything hot. All connectors are in their receptacle and all ground wires are connected. Car drove for 30 miles after install before problem happened after 30 minute drive. Also car idled for 5 hours with no problem.

It will blow the fuse even when i disconnect the starters ignition lead too. From what i have been told the problem is somewhere in the wiring system independent of the actual starter, hence the blowing of the 10amp fuse. Another words i can pull the starters relay and it still blows the fuse 5amp in the cabin. It is like somewhere in the system it is grounding out but breaking the weakest link because power is not even getting to the starter when i pull the relay.

Another problem that i was having was that the cooling fans would not come on until the engine temperature reached in the red. Could the temperature sensor be the culprit or be a cause maybe.

Won't start

so stop guessing, buy an $10 voltmeter (walfart has one)
and do simple tests. all very easy, ask.
the first step is jumper cable starts, ! cranks/ pass/fail??????
my guess, this fails.
if my car dont jump start, (i can coast start my car)
i check battery voltgage, alhhhhhh 12.6vdc, good. 10v bad.
i then hot wire the starter solenoid.
dead, (or clicks) , starter bad, big cables to it bad,(x2) or engine seized. (or battery bad, blow 10v cranking is bad battery 99%
i hand turn engine by hand, it dont turn, it's seized.
it turns by hand; good.!
so lets say the hot wire test works (keys in pocket cranks but dont start now , because my keys are in my pockets for safety)

that means the KEY LINE Is dead (small wire to starter solenoid)
see here. works for all cars. (not hacked key lines, etc.)

Starter Fuse Keeps Blowing When I Try To Start My 2001 Camry

The starter has gone to ground. This is either a coincidence of age or the repair shop left something disconnected that has slapped around and grounded the starter or some of their other work has shifted around and done it. It could just be a coincidence. If it went to ground internally, it will need replacing. If something shifted and grounded it out, putting that something where it belongs and THEN replacing a fuse should fix it. Most shops reuse your starter on their new engine.

We have a 2000 Solara that we just replaced the battery in, or rather, we tried, and the horn is now staying on continuously. It keeps blowing a 100 amp fuse, and does not have a key fob type alarm. The...

Why was the battery replaced? Theres no reason the the 100 amp fuse to blow unless the alternator is shorted or you hooked up the battery backwards. I think the 100 amp fuse goes to the alternator. If it was hooked up backwards then you may have engine computer damage.

I have a 2000 toyota camry. I turn the key on, dash board lights come on but the engine wont turn. checked the battery, fuses. they are good. could it be the alternator.

Did you have the battery checked by a doing a load test? Do you hear a "clicking" sound when you turn the key to start? If you hear a clicking sound, and you're positive the battery is good (fully charged) it could indicate a bad starter solenoid.

By the way....what kind of vehicle is it....a 00 Camry or an 04 Impala?

You need a new starter bendix, or a whole starter. Best do it soon before you tear the teeth of the flex plate. Once you do that you have to pull the transmission to change it.

How do I change the starter in a 2000 Toyota Camry LE

i'm sure it's not the starter itself that is the problem, have the stater's solenoid checked...it might be stucked. It's quite a lot of work removing the starter but you can do it if you are willing enough to learn. You just need the right idea and tools to do it. Hope this will help save you bucks!

Toyota Camry 1994 Main Fuse keeps blowing

-if your fuses are blowing
-the problem is in the wiring
-because if too much amperage flows through the fuse will blow
-there's probably a short to ground somewhere or high resistance after the fuses causing it to draw more amps
