Question about 2006 Hyundai Elantra
The first thing you need to do here is have the cars computer scanned for error codes. When you have an engine light showing like this an error should be stored in the engine control unit which will point you in the right direction.
Anything else is a complete guessing game as there are numerous possible causes of this issue such as faulty O2 sensor, EGR valve, Crankshaft sensor, TPS, Vacuum leaks, stuffed catalytic converter or fuelling problems.
The list goes on and on - so to prevent yourself throwing money at this - have the car scanned for codes. Autozone will run the scan for free.
Alternatively have your dealer scan the car. Once you are clear where the fault is indicated you can do the work yourself. Sensors are not that hard to replace and are the cause of this behaviour most (but not all) of the time. You can replace these yourself and save a few bucks but a scan with diagnostic software is essential before proceeding any further.
If the information helps please remember to leave a vote for it.

Have the following tests performed : fuel system pressure test cylinder balance test as well as a injector balance test. Preferable an ASE Certified Tech will do the testing.Depending on what he/she says wel'll take it from there. Gotta know why its misfiring before we do anything else. Cat and 02 sensor respond to engine's combustion process
exhaust product.Lets see what the testing says.
Keep me posted

Ignition coils has to be the answer. if it was the fuel pump your car wouldnt start. So i would say contact audi. they should have sent you a letter in the mail. We have the same car and i got a letter from them. ignition coils are the recall for the 02 a4.
