you have to take the car to a mechanic with software... and machine. plug in and clear faults. NB. it will come on again if there is a problem with airbag.
when the airbag light is on it is disabled.
a scan tool can read the codes that are turning the light on,
a common problem is clockspring in the column.
Usualy the check engine light reports a malfuction in your engine performance system, it coulb be a misfire, bad sensors, vaccum leak, you need to have your engine code read from a garage or an auto parts store that offers the service for free.
I just had my car worked on in one shop, a HYUNDAI ATOS 2000 they fixed a bad windshield wiper mechanism, but after the repair, my airbag light remained illuminated, the garage mechanic tried with 2 diagnostic computers to 'reboot' my cars own computer, but neither of his devices could communicate with my car, I had to go to another garage with a proper computer the repair took only 5 seconds!! sobs!, they charged me $50 for the 'work'......the first garage evidenlty, touched something, and I had to pay the bill......live & learn,. before this I tried all the 'tricks' like disconnecting the battery, first neg, then pos, nothing else worked, damned computers!!
I would advise getting the dealer to check it. Some small local shops will cut the light off, but there have been cases where the air bag can go off for no reason, and potentially cause a saftey issue. I would say to get it check for your saftey. An airbag light can also be a forwarning to a potential computer problem. Good luck, and be careful.
you have to reset the ecm code , when you removed the fuse the ecm registered this as a loss of voltage and threw a code so now it doesn't know that the fuse has been replaced. you need a scan tool to reset the ecm...please rate the solution...thanks
on the 2002 Accent we have, the area is clearly identified w/the "cutout" area and marked SRS Airbag...perhaps look at Hyundai.com at the owners' manual online, or look at used cars/junk yards to compare dash panels to yours...would think it VERY difficult for avg person to perform this task
