yes can be done but will need some mods and programming ------and an s-10 trans tunnel will need mods --------this is a full size but shows some of whats needed for swap also check the s-10 forums for better sources on mods ------https://www.motortrend.com/how-to/129-1004-1977-chevy-4l60e-to-4l80e-transmission-swap/ -----https://www.motortrend.com/how-to/1307-4l80e-transmission-swap/-
It's on the tranny I can't remember if that year is still cable driven or electrical but if it's cable it will b on the tranny close to where the drive shaft slips in, there will b a cable that runs down from the fire wall and treads in there that's the speedo gear, make sure the cables good also a bad cable could b your problem. if it's electric it's the blac box that's on the left with 2 plugs coming out of it, either way it's on the trans.
yes but it will be difficult. a wiring harness swap will probably be needed since 93-94 were the experimental years for computers. you may need to swap trannys also. i advis you to have fun, the 5.7L chevy is one hell of a hot engine :) its the same one used in corvettes and comaros.
by all rights it should be a great fit.
but all things look good on paper!! Seriously....your swap will be fine,as the years are fully interchangable. you may run into some wiring issues with sensors, and that can be fixed by just splicing in new connectors that fit them.
It won't work. The shifting of the 4L60E is done by the computer in the 93. You might check with Summit or Jegs, I think they make a system to make it work.
you will most probably need a beefed up tranny to take the power of the engine, I have just installed a 350 supercharged chevy motor in my sons car with a Turbo 350 transmission and a shift kit which I have been told by an auto trans mechanic may not take the power of that engine.
It is costing him $1500 australian to have it reconditioned so I hope it will survive the rides
Athough the trannys look the same ,there not.Years 95,96,97 and 98 ,the trannys need to be from the exact year in orded to work correctly. If yours is a 1997 4l60e you will need one from a 97.The 10th digit in your vin determines the year and yours should be a -v-.Be sure when installing a new tranny you flush the trans. cooler lines and radiator cooler for the trans. to prevent any metal from your old trans. going in to your new one.Hope this helps.
