When I start my car up the headlights are to come on but they don't unless I turn the switch on. What is the problem.

Your headlight switch is shorting to you blinker switch or vise versa. This effects the interior lights because the dimmer switch is wired with the headlight switch. Both switches will need to be rewired. For a car that's less than 10 years old that is ridiculous. You could try to lodge a complaint with Honda. Most cars don't have issues like that for at least 20 years. So unless you've been driving through the arctic or have 500,000 miles you should not be impressed.

Check the headlight Relay and/or fuses - should be in the fuse panel.

All three are different circuits and the headlights don't go thru the ignition switch.
I'd start with tracing the headlight circuit.

1st thing to check is to make sure you don't have the dimmer wheel turned off by the main headlight switch to the left of driver.

Switch for he headlights may need to be checked out. This is a hard task unless you have a test meter. I would start by checking the headlight sockets for power, if you have power, then move up to check the power at the fuse box. You may have to remove the headlight switch if you desire to check the power connections. Your headlight switch will have to be on when you check this. Good Luck.

you don`t say but if your car has a delay timer for the headlights then this could be the problem,it is built part of the headlight switch and to repair you replace the headlight switch itself with the same switch.some of these cars also had an daylight sensor in the dash that would detect how much daylight there is and when it gets dark enough it automaticaly turns on the headlights.this system was first installed on the cadillac cars then filtered down to other models in the gm line.its someplace to start.

is your battery charged? turn the head lights on while you try to start and have someone look at the headlights while you try to turn engine over, if the headlights dim while the key is turned to start position, that means the starter is drawing fire. if starter does not turn while doing this, i would say bad starter. if not that,,,there is a neutral safety switch on the clutch. just to make sure your car does not start while in gear, the factory installeda switch on the clutch pedal to insure children and minors can not start your car. unless the clutch in pushed in. the switch is on the clutch pedal, just above the brake pedal[pad] look for a plunger type switch above the pedal.. i hope this helps!!!!
