Question about Nissan Xterra

1 Answer

My xterra's air conditioning will not work. The a/c compressor won't engage on blower levels 2, 3 and 4. The a/c compressor will engage on level 1. The blower only works on levels 2, 3 and 4. The blower does not work on level 1.

the blower works on all settings except level 1. I took the resistor out and the a/c reacted the same way.

Typically when the blower only works on high it is because the blower motor resistor is faulty. The first thing I would do is have it checked or replaced and see if your lights are still not working right.

There are not too many other things that this could be, but it might be a wiring problem or a problem with the A/C controls or control module.

I hope this has helped.

The air suspension compressor assembly has the ability to detect faults and indicate the appropriate fault code via a blink code on the inflator switch LED. Is the light on ?
The air suspension compressor assembly will indicate the code when the condition that caused the code is current. In some instances the air suspension compressor assembly may set a flag that requires the ASCM to be reset. The ASCM will reset on its own after the ignition has been turned off for more than 2 1/2 hours or if the air suspension fuse has been removed with the ignition key turned off.

Why would my air conditioning in my Mitsubishi eclipse cool on #1 setting but kick off on any other setting above #1?

When you say "kick off," do you mean that the fan shuts off, or that the compressor cuts off? (Unclear.)
If the fan is shutting off, check your fan control switch, blower resistor, and blower motor.
If the compressor is cutting off, check your refrigerant level, and the compressor cycling switch.

07 Santa fe air stoped working fan and heat fine compressor not engaged No signs of trouble noise

if the compressor is not engaging then check the fuses with a test light.if they are good then you will have to check the a/c relay in the relay box.if this is good then you might have a low freon level in the system that won`t allow the system to work.it could be a problem with the diode at the a/c compressor of the compressor itself maybe seized, even a car this new.

Ac not working, tried adding 134a ,but wouldnt take it inyo system.

There are 2 valves, a high and low. R134 should be charged on the high side (bigger fitting of the 2). If your system has no refrigerant in it then you may have a bigger problem than low freon like a leak.

When you charge it the air condition settings should be on high and running. This will help with the vacuum you need to charge it. There is a good chance the clutch is out on the a/c, if it the level is low it will make a clicking sound when engaged, if the level is too low it won't move at all. If this is the case you will need to add oil as well as refrigerant (this comes as a mixture, read the label on the can and it will tell you if it has oil in it).

After turning on the car, run the a/c on high, use the correct fitting and try adding the freon again, if it still won't take it then you'll have to get it serviced, most likely the air compressor is out.

Air conditioning compressor does not operate

Check the fuse to see that it is still good. It is possible that the compressor is out of freon and can't engage because the level is too low to keep it from burning up.

Check to see if the clutch engages (the small wheel on the face of the pulley) when you turn the switch on and with the motor running.

Look under the hood and if you see black or dark brown stains over the area where the compressor is mounted, you likely have a leak that needs to be fixed.

Air conditioning quit working controls are on but doesn't sound like compressor is kicking on? Could it be a relay?

You may just need to have the system recharged, the compressor might engage if the refrigerant level is too low.

Air Condition

it sounds like a loose compression compressor.

if the compressor is loose compression, normally it sounds noisy. then suction pressure is above normal and if you accelerate and maintains that high speed, let say 2000 rpm, the suction pressure goes down to the normal level and cools your air conditioning .

tnx 4 using fixya...
