Poor quality gas? you may have water in the tank or its the usual worn spark plugs and wires. go to Autozone and purchase a can of Sea Foam fuel cleaner $10 and pour 1/2 can into a 1/2 tank of gas then drive car on open highway for about 30 miles this should clean out any water in system and clean any fuel injectors that maybe also causing this problem.
Now it is possible that it could be a transmission problem and Sea Foam also has a new product out called trans tune you could also put 1/2 a can in the transmission, but make sure you "dont" over fill, have a shop **** some fluid out and drive around for at least 15-20 miles the have the filter and transmission oil serviced. if it works it just saved you a lot of money. dont do then tranny service until you tired the others first.

also clean the IAC (air idle control) sensor i found that that was causing my rough idle problem and then you'll also have to clean the throttle body too, mine was extremely dirty. dont use carb spray on the iac sensor use only throttle body cleaner ...carb spray might damage the sensor.

Try disconnecting the torque converter. If it is the torque converter this will keep it from skipping but you won't have overdrive

Might be a sticking torque converter solenoid. The torque converter could be acting as if the clutch is engaged on a manual trans. car.

Bubbles transmission fluid

I'm not sure the bubbles are telling you anything. When the transmission or power steering is working, you can have bubbles in the fluid.
One possible cause for the stalling at stops is a faulty torque converter lockup solenoid.

Hi everyone. I have a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT, and we recently had the torque converter replaced because it started to run really rough in drive and most of the time it would stall as soon as it was...

have the fault codes read first as the current problem as with the first has nothing to do with a torque converter
more like vacuum leaks , injector problems , low fuel pressures

Torque Converter problems for ford f-150

the torque converter is locked up, you need to have the system tested there should be a trouble code for a TCC solenoid, but do the test, most times the torque converter will need to be replaced, have worked for ford dealer 25 years and seen this many times.

93 grand cherokee 5.2 all time 4wd wont stay runing when put in gear

It sounds like the torque converter is locked up. Possible a bad torque converter or converter solenoid. First thing you should try is unplugging the solenoid plug on the transmission. Drivers side, near the shifter. Not the three pin connector near the pan on the same side. The connector you want is higher than the reverse light plug.
