Question about 1991 Chevrolet Lumina

My 1991 lumina will start but after abont 15 to 20min of driving it just cuts off and i have to wait about 15mins for it to start agin but it will cut off agin not even 5min later

I suggest you look at ignition module mounted under coil pack and also crank sensor.

1997 chey lumina runs fine until motor warm-up then shut off and won't start until motor cool off

Try getting your transmission solenoid replaced. After I got mine replaced it ran fine after that. That's the exact same thing my Lumina was doing.

My 87 buick centry stalls while driveing but when it stalls the battery light and service engine light comes on but once i put the car in park or nutrol it will start back up

My 1987 buick centry limited cuts off when i drive but when i start it back up it will start right bacc up at times some times it starts and die agin but when it dies the battery light and service engine light comes on but once it starts the service engine and battery light goes away and dont do it agine tell it cuts off agine

On my 1991 3.1 chev lumina when it get warm you step on the gas and it die's what the heck? can anyone help

some common problem in the summer when car get hot over and over the ignition (coil) is affected it will make your car cold run fine but cuts off when hot if occurred look for the coil
if you let car cools down for an hour then it started and work fine until cut off when hot again sure it is coil .

My chevy lumina surges while driving and wont start when its hot and you cut it off after about a couple of hours

If the rpms like to go up and down while stopped, sorry to tell you it is the computer. Good news is that now they are far less expensive and much more plentiful in junkyard than they were when I had to replace mine.

My grandmother has a 1991 Chevy Lumina. It just started cutting off whenever it chooses. She gassed the pedal and the engine sputtered and cut off. What could be the problem? Could it be a dirty fuel...

I knew someone with a 92 Lumina who had the same problem and it turned out to be a bad fuel pump. If she has had the car for a long time and never had it changed, then it's definitely a good place to start. If the filter hasn't been changed in a while or possibly ever, then it should be changed. When it's a fuel related problem, it's usually worse when the engine is cold. If it's a catalytic converter problem, then it usually gets worse the longer you drive it.
Fuel system problems are usually checked with a fuel pressure gauge. the injectors must have a constant supply of fuel delivered at a certain pressure at all times for proper engine operation.
Catalytic converter problems can be checked by removing the converter and installing a test pipe. If the problem goes away, then the converter should be replaced. I hope this information has been helpful.

is there a black "chip" in your ignition key under the key head? if there is it sounds like the V.A.T.S. systen has malfunctioned. it would require service at a garage.

Check that you're getting spark to your plugs and fuel to your injectors. If so, my first guess would be to check your timing belt.
