Question about Chrysler Sebring

I just got a rebuilt transmission put in it and before I knew it the alternator wasn't putting out enough amp so it drained my battery so I went and brought a new alternator and a new battery put in it the battery shows good battery the diodes good the alternator is on putting out 12.48 am and never had this problem before until I got the transmission fixed could it be a ground lose that they didn't put before

Yes there is a gound loose some where causing this trace all grounds and make sure all are nice and tite

Two possibilities.

First, if the belt running to the alternator isn't tight enough it will slip and won't charge properly. You can check the specs for your specific car but generally when you press halfway on the belt span you shouldn't be able to push in more than about 3/8"

The second guess would be that the alternator is, in fact, faulty in spite of being checked. If the battery is dead after an hour of the car running the alternator isn't putting out anything at all to charge the battery.

I'd try having the electrical system tested at another place. Autozone and Advance Auto will put on a tester for free. The dealer of the car will help too but will be the most expensive.

Alternator last night went to13 volts put a new one on today started pickup it showed 14.2 volts drove about a hour anf it feel to 13.5 now its back to 14.2

You got a bad regulator in the alternator,maybe

Also check diode leakage (current ripple)
& grounds

Those alternators have been rebuilt & you still have
other peoples old parts inside them

After that you need a wiring daigram of the circuit to see
where the regulator control comes from

Possible failed battery all along

My battery has been draining and not holding a charge. I had my alternator rebuilt and the problem was still there, then i changed my battery because it was bad so i replaced that then noticed my clamps...

Have you put an amp meter in one of the battery cables,
to see if you have more than 30 Milli-Amps?

Only the computer & radio clock stay alive all night

Your alternator. Rebuilt how? Are the diodes leaking
& killing your battery?

What Codes do you have?
I will look in my 92 manual for you

Disconnect the alternator overnight

Next start pulling fuses with that meter in there, until
you find no current draw large enough to run a battery down

The ignition switch may be bad & powering the alternator field
all night. Have to check wiring diagrams for that

A ford needs a fully charged battery to work the alternator. You may burn out the replacement alternator by hooking it up to a dead battery. Get the battery charged and have it load tested. You may have a bad battery and it should be checked.

If your old alternator was shorted, it may have blown fuse #8 in the instrument panel fuse block. It is a 10 Amp fuse and is the ignition circuit feed for the alternator.

that is exactly what happened the alternator went bad causing overload in the battery,replacing it with a rebuilt will be fine,as long as the replacement puts out the same amps. it will most likely have a warranty of some kind so i would not replace it until car is back on the road . you don't want warranty expiring while car is parked.
