Make sure that you insert the right information in your OBD ll reader such as engine model, type of an ignition system, year of made of the car, model of the car and another information requested from the program. There is no reason to not get access if all the information are correct.

E46 320i 2002 model cranks but will not start.pump pressure is ok at 3.2b plugs have spark what could be the problem

I would first check for error codes using an OBD-II scanner tool- then research the Diagnostic Troubleshoot Code(s) to point you in the direction of the problem. Most common error is when DIYers read the scanner tool and automatically assume scanner codes pulled will pinpoint the exact problem. Scanner tools vary in scope. The bottom line, use the tool as a starting reference point, but you will have to test the component to make sure it is the one that is malfunctioning. How to read obd code suzuki aerio

There should be two OBD ports on this vehicle, one under the steering wheel the other is located by the computer unit under the hood. Attach an OBD reader or OBD II Reader (available to be borrowed from most car part stores) and read the code.

Knocking engine

Instructions
1. Plug in your OBD II (on-board diagnostics) scanner to your OBD II port, which is usually located near the steering column. Many models have the OBD II port on the left side of the under-console of the driver's side dash, near the door. If your car was manufactured prior to the 1994 production year, you may need to use an OBD I translator, which plugs into your OBD II scanner.

2. Turn on your scanner, which may require you to turn your car to the "Acc" position, and read the codes that appear. Use a manual that comes with the scanner to translate the codes.

3. Replace any sensors that come up in the OBD II scan. Multiple sensors work together in order to help fire and time the ignition process for the engine's combustion. The knock sensor particularly helps to sense the engine vibration patterns and regulate the timing in accordance, and may account for excessive engine vibration if the sensor is failed. You may need to remove several components and engine parts in order to access specific sensors, depending on your make, model and engine design. You may also need to raise your vehicle on car ramps in order to access the underside of the engine to remove and replace certain sensors.

4. Replace engine and transmission mounts if needed. This process can vary from vehicle to vehicle, however it usually involves using one or two floor jacks to support the weight of the engine while unbolting one or more engine mounts. Each engine mount also has its own insulator and rubber stopper materials, which are critical to the engine mount's functioning. Failed engine mounts do not necessarily lead to damaging other engine components and is not a fix critical to the proper functioning of your car engine.

5. Inspect your harmonic balancer, which is connected to the crankshaft via a drive belt and serves to reduce and absorb some of the vibrations caused by the crankshaft itself. Loosen and remove the drive belt by turning the belt tensioner bolt. Unbolt the harmonic balancer with a torque wrench and inspect the insulator component, which should be in good shape. Replace the harmonic balancer if the insulator is cracked or showing signs of wear and tear, or if it is missing.

What is the purpose of the connector to the immediate left of the hood release under the steering wheel of a 4X4 quad cab pickup truck? I could not find anything about it in the user manual.

This is OBD - On - Board -Diagnostic Connector.
On Board Diagnostics, OBD-II, is required on all automobiles and light trucks in the United States from 1996 onward. OBD-II is a set of specifications for monitoring and reporting on engine performance in modern automobiles.
If the Service Engine light is on, then connecting a Code Scanner on OBD Connector, the Code is picked up and the code explanation can be found. If this is a False Code, this can be Cleared with the code scanner, after reading the code.

My check engine light is constantly on....a guy at the kia place told me that it was because I prob didn't tighten my gas cap enough. He stated that if I took it to a kia place they could turn it off but I...

Well, if you have an OBD-II scanner, for $100 or so from Walmart, you can use the erase code button to stop the light from coming on if the problem was solved with the gas tank cap not being screwed on tightly.

However, if it doesn't turn off with the OBD-II scanner, then there is a problem that the scanner can read a code for, that will be displayed in plain English, that is wrong with the car.

OBD CONNECTION 2000 NISSAN FRONTIER

if the scanner will not communicate with the ECm, First check all the fuses under the hood. If all is well, make sure you have the key on and not off or running. If all is good there then the computer for the car has taken a vacation on you and will need to be taken to the dealership for repair/re-programming.
