There is no way to know exactly the problem without testing components and hooking up a data scanner to see if any sensors or codes exist with problems. Guessing will only cost more money if your wrong. I know this is not what you want to hear but for someone to suggest a part could get expensive if they are wrong and then you will be stuck with the bill with noone to complain to.

Hi, it sounds to me like you could have one of the following problems
1. dirty fuel which has caused blocked injectors or fuel lines
2. blocked or dirty fuel filter.

the first thing i would try is to go out and buy a fuel line cleaner you can buy these from most filling stations and car spares shops.
a good brand to use is called Red X, if you cant get this then dont buy the cheapest ones as these dont work, once you have bought one all you do is pour it into your tank, now on the back of the bottle it will say pour into a full tank of fuel how ever only pour it into half a tank as this way it works quicker and cleans more.

once you have poured it into your tank you need to do the following for between 15 and 20 min you need to drive normal such as not pulling away fast just normal steady driving, then after this time drive a bit harder for another 15 to 20 min like pull away quick and take the revs up higher then drive normal for another 10 min. after this time your car should be running normally if its not then you need to start thinking about getting it serviced such as air filter, fuel filter, plugs etc, then that should have it sorted.

when you buy the fuel line cleaner make sure you buy correct type ie petrol or diesel.

let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance oj

The first thing you must do is check the engine control system for fault codes. To do that go here and read instructions.

Clean the throttle body which is located on the inlet manifold by using a good quality carb, cleaner and see whether your spark plugs are good.

Car stalls when stopped, cuts out when accelerating to HWY spds.

You could have a bad or intermittent fuel pump. Not a cheap thing to have.

An OBD 2 scanner can read fuel pressure on the drive to see if your fuel pressure drops off at odd times to confirm. It can also tell if there are transcient vacuum leaks at idle which the engines idle air control cant compensate for.

Do the plugs, wires and cap too.

I have a 1999 GMC Safari. Van will drive fine for

see when you say you step on it, and the vehicle stalls, it sounds as if it bein starved of fuel...you step on it, and therefore the demand is there, but not the supply. to prevent itself from over heating, the fuel pump shuts off...after a moment of cooling off, it fires right back up...get it checked at your mechanic...do the strainer on the bottom of the pump, and fuel filter as well...is it time for a tune up yet?

Car is stalling while driving. It also seems to

Have your fuel injectors checked !!.When they start going bad one or more will short out ,then the quad driver in the computer which controls injector pulse will shut down until it cools off a little. Then you can start your car .:)

Service engine light comes on at 54000 miles

Replace the fuel filter. The new gasolines with ethanol tend to lloosen any crud in the gas tank, which then plugs the filter. When the engine stalls, the crud falls away, and it will run again until it plugs up again.
