Most likely this is a problem with the cable that is connected to the transmission to the gauge found in between the firewall and the transmission is a thick cable conduit in which inside houses the speedometer cable. Have it inspected and see if it has become loose or may have broken off. If that is ok, check the part that goes behind the gauge itself. The other end of the cable mentioned earlier should go through the firewall and into the back of the gauge. See if it may have come off.

Chevrolet beat speedometer not working

I dont know what year model you have, but it will either be the cable from the trans mission to the speedometer, or the drive unit that turns the cable. If its a late model it will be the vehicle speed sensor on the transmission.

U try to set cruise it dont come on also speedometer dont work

Fix the speedometer cable or VSS (vehicle speed sensor) circuit before diagnosing the cruise.

The cruise control is a separate system that uses speedometer information to adjust the throttle up or down depending on the speed detected.

Also, the actuator cable for the cruise control could be broken.

But, I would check the speedometer problem out first.

Speedometer Cable replacement

A universal kit will work for your application. Most of the time the center cable is what is damaged.

1. Remove speedometer cable from transmission
2. Remove speedo gear retainer and remove speedo gear.
3. Pull out cable from sheath - If broken you will only get part of it
4. Remove instrument panel and pull out section of cable still trapped in cable sheath if applicable.

For re install follow directions on package.

Pointers

1. Cable appears un-damaged: Check to make sure the speedo gear is not damaged where the cable enters it. Then also check the back of the speedo head cable hole for damage.
2. You can measure you two broken pieces to arrive at an appropriate length for ordering purposes.
3. Make sure this is well lubricated on install otherwise the speedo can jump up and down or damage the new cable.

Speedometer Cable?

I believe the speedometer is ran by the computer and is pulled off the vechicle speed sensor, if thee is a cable it would be on the side of the transmisson drivers side.

Speedometer not working

Given that the new cable was properly installed (it may not have been), the problem is either the speedometer gear in the transmission or the speedometer itself.

If the old cable was indeed broken, I'd first check the new cable to make sure it's properly installed.

My speedometer guage wont work

this is a speedometer cable problem, there is a cable that goes from your transmission to what would be the back of your dash lights. Remove this cable by unscrewing it from the transmission, not from behind the speedometer. then take the wire that cable is wrapped around connect it to a power drill, spin it and see if your speedometer gives any type of a reading.
Then remove the other end of the cable, take the whole thing to either a junkyard or autoparts store, get a new one, install the new one....problem solved! :)

Speedometer stopped working on my 1998 land rover. How can I determine where the problem is and fix it?

pretty common for the cable to break,if you get under the vehicle disconnect it from the gearbox and tug the inner cable it should not come out...if it does you know the problem....if it doesnt put a battery drill on the cable....dont start the engine but leave the ignition on a spin the drill if your speedo dont work then you need a new speedo head.....but that is very uncommon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MY SPEEDOMETER ON MY 90 INTEGRA DNT WORK.....

rpm is a sensor on your engine.  Speedo comes off the tranny or transfer case.  Some speedos are digital and some are cables.  The digital ones- take out the old sensor and spice on a new one and screw it back it.  Here is the matching part
