Question about 2001 Kia Spectra

1 Answer

Lately I've been having problems with my Kia starting. It's been getting progressivly worse. sometimes it will hesitate, and then start up (I thought it might be the battery connection). Now it won't start but I have power to the accessories. Starter maybe? It's been doing this off and on for about a year. If it is the starter, can you tell me how to locate and change it out. thanks

Could be Idle Air Control (IAC)Valve on the throttle body has got dirty. Remove the air cleaner piping from the filter to the throttle body. On the inner wall of the throttle just before the throttle flap you should find an entrance port that leads to the IAC on the outside. If you use your fingers to open the throttle valve you will find the other end the passage. the exit port. This device bleeds a regulated amount of air past the closed throttle when the car is at idle. If the valve gets gummed up and no air can get past the throttle the engine is hell to start. Another symptom is that the car at idle is prone to stalling if you engage the power steering etc. Use carb cleaner spray and a cloth and keep at it until the ports are like new. The IAC is held on with a couple of bolts and it can be removed from the outside to clean it (take care to disconnect and reconnect the electrical wiring to it before and after cleaning). Hope this works

could be spark plugs, dirty fuel filter, air filter, Mass Air Flow Sensor. bad spark plug wires. Dirty throttle body or injectors. I would start with the cheapest and work my way to the more expensive things if it doesn't improve.

I have a 99 blazer s-10 with 145k miles. Sometimes when the engine is cold, after I get started, the truck hesitates, sputters and bucks until it shifts up. After I've drive for 30 minutes at 65 mph,...

A great place to start would be a tuneup. Plugs and wires, cap and rotor. If the check engine light is on, have the codes read. Places like Autozone and Advance auto parts will do this for you for free. Their hope is that you will buy parts from them.

Why does my 1999 Maxima hesitate sometime when I step on the gas. It seems to be getting worse?

Tuned up lately? semms a bad MAF sensor or EGR valve, also a cogged fuel/air filter can cause this or even bad spark plugs can cause this to happen.

Hard start and rough idle.

Sounds like it's time for a tune up of the ignition system. That would be easiest. If not, have a mechanic check your cylinder compression.

1995 Jeep C. 4.0l 6cyl stalling & dies. Random. Getting worse.

Before you encounter this problem do you have problem starting the Jeep?

Crank angle sensor and Idle air control valve are the most common parts failure for 150,000+ miles vehicle.

I would clean the spring, plunger and the interior pathway of the IAC. The IAC is the 4 wire electronic motor that adjust the idle.

Since you has 180K miles, the CAS should be replace.

The .Automatic Shutdown relay (ASD) (Relay #4/inside the fuse box) can be damage also.

Check out these three trouble spots and post a comment.

I will follow up on it later.
