Question about 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee

1 Answer

Need to take the clutch out of a 1996 Jeep, the external torx bolts are the problem, there's two of them and one has rounded off (the two on the bellhousing).

Only two ways AI can think of to get them out. Either get a slightly smaller socket and beat it on with a hammer or cut through the floor so you can drill it out. Don't think a torch would work because of location and that the bellhousing would likely melt.

How do i remove my fan clutch on my 96 jeep grand cherokee?

Disconnect battery, remove bolts holding fan shroud, at the water pump where the fan shaft attaches. Unscrew the nut. It will remove the fan from water pump, lift out fan and shroud, 4 bolts holding clutch to fan.

There are a few bolts that hold the clutch assembly onto the water pump. Unbolt each one and the fan and clutch will come off the pump. You will have to hold the clutch stationary (if you try to hold the fan blades, the clutch will still spin) while cracking the bolts. Brace the other clutch bolts with something while cracking each one. Good luck.

I've got an oil leak comeing from between the gooseneck & the block that the oil filter mounts on. (96 Jeep 6 cyl.)How do you get the goos neck off to replace or repair it.

To remove that part, you will need a torx bit (or allen key) depending on what you have there. Most newer ones are torx. The bolt is generally very tight and difficult to access due to chassis being in the way. I generally use a torx bit that has been removed from it's socket adapter, fitting it into a long six point box wrench. (Sometimes breaking "rules" by placing a long pipe over the wrench) You should replace all the "o" rings inside so you don't need to do the job over again.

How do i change my fan belt on an audi a4 19 tdi

i just replaced 1 yesterday your best option is to remove the headlights, bumper, you will see 3 torx bolts both sides holding complete front section, remove air conditioning rad pull round to right hand side without losing pipes, the front section should pull round to the left a little prope with axle stand. draw out a digram of witch way the belt goes round all pulleys. to the left of the water pump (big fan wheel) is the tensioner, to slacken place 15mm spanner on bolt and pull anticlockwise.

Fasher unit location for a 1996 bravada

Are you trying to replace the Turn Signal Fuse?

First, remove the ash try.

Then, there is a small bolt that you need to remove. When you removed the ash try, the bolt is shown. it is on the dash on the top left of the opening of where you removed ash tray.

Next, get a #30 Torx Head, either Ratchet or Screwdriver. To the left of the ash tray, about a foot, and to the right of the steering column, there is a Torx Head Bolt. Remove that.

Now, remove the panel around the radio and air conditioner controls. You don't need to remove it completely. Just enough to allow that bottom portion of the plate where you removed the screws to be lowered. You should see the tabs that rest on the panel that you just removed. Push that panel down as far as you can. To the right of where you removed that Torx Screw you should see two round silver cylinders. They should have the number '522' stamped on them. The one on left is for the Turn Signals, Left and Right, and the one on the right is for the Emergency Flashers. It is best to replace them both. Use a pair of pliers and pull them straight out, don't turn them. You can wiggle them, but don't turn them left or right. You could damage the connectors.

Put the knee panel and the front panel back in the opposite of the directions.

If you need further help, I would recommend that you go to your local auto parts store and get a Haynes Manual. There are detailed instructions on the removal and replacement of those fuses listed in that manual.

Hope this helps!

Vw polo driveshaft torx splines problems

Hi Ammar

If your torx bolt splines are shot.

Hammer on the surface face, with a long round drift to loosen the bolt threads slightly, and close up the torx hole, and try the torx splined socket again.

If no good try mole grips on the head of the bolt to loosen it.

If not enough room for them, try a chisel on the outer edge of the bolt, this normally does it.

Failing this try hammering on a slightly smaller external socket, than the head of the bolt, then try removing.

Good Luck !

Let me know how you get on.

A FixYa rating would be nice !

High rpm when clutch is in 96 f150 5l

It sounds like the upper section (known as the plenum) of the intake may be leaking at the gasket, this is a common problem on a 5.0L V8. It takes about 1-2 hours to change, and the gasket is cheap, make sure that you throughly clean the gasket surface of the upper and lower intake before putting it back togeather, you will need a special tool to remove the center Torx head retainning bolt, it is a long star/torx bit, It is a T40 The MAC tool number is SC161.
