There is a housing at the end of the bottom radiator hose opposite the radiator. To access this, you must remove the power steering pump and its bracket. Then the housing, attached to the lower radiator hose is bolted to the lower part of the front of the engine, contains the thermostat. It is a 195 degree from the factory. A Duralast (pn 15379)that has a built-in bleeder, is a good one to pick up for about $15 at most parts houses.

Wher is the thermostat on my 95 jetta with the 2.0

The themostat is located on the front passenger side of the car . Follow the hose coming from the raditator and it will lead you to the location of the thermostat. You have to move the power steering pump out of the way for easier access of the thermostat.

Finding Thermostat on 98 Jetta GLS

Its to the right of the water pump towards the bottom of the engine.. Follow your lower radiator hose. Make sure to get some G12 coolant from VW before you do it. If you mix the coolants they turn into a gel that will cause you to overheat.

Volswagon jetta 1996

The thermostat is located at the engine end of the lower radiator hose (passenger side). If the car has power-steering the power steering pump and mounting bracket have to be removed to get to the thermostat housing. The thermostat is at the end of the bottom hose, in the water pump housing ..not the top
