I have a 96 Cadillac Deville. The car overheats

I have a 96 Cadillac Deville. The car overheats to the point that she boils water out of the purge line within 10-15 miles of starting. Tried changing upper radiator hose and replacing thermostat. Any suggestions??

I would get a radiator tester to make sure there is no air leaking out at a slow rate

What happens when radiator cap is not pressurized on a 98 cadi deville

If you mean a radiator cap failure to allow the
coolant system to build #14 to #16 of pressure

You then lower the boiling point & could overheat
the engine, especially if it has other issues.

1996 Cadillac Sedan Deville that overheats only when idling

The most common overheating problem with the Northstar engine is a blocked purge line(small hose). The purge line is designed to purge air out of the cooling system.
There is a small diameter hose coming from near the top of the coolant tank (not the cap) ,this is the purge line.
With the engine idling, pull the purge line from the tank,if there is no coolant flow from this small hose,it is blocked and this will cause overheating.
If the hose is clear, check for blockage at the nipple on the tank.Or trace the hose back until you find the blockage.
The hose goes in to the engine to a crossover and comes out the other side close to the thermostat housing, the blockage may be there.

Changing the thermostat 2000 cadillac deville

The pressure they work within is usualy information on your radiator cap or owners hand book.Your thermostat should be a 180 degree but can vary The 180 is in reference to the heat required to open them so water can flow through and be kept at a more or less constant 180.There are other temp ranges for a wide variety of applications and 180 is the standard one for most vehiclesThe radiaor and water system is pressurised to lower the boiling point of the water The higher the pressure the lower the boiling point
