I have had to replace the governor on those dodge transmissions, and there is a filtering metal mesh screen around the governor inlet port that seems to always get plugged up with small metal shavings. The governor is located under the transmission pan to the rear of the main valve body.

You should also check or replace the governor pressure sensor, it also has a filtering screen that gets plugged up, and it is located right next to the governor.

Engine code p1757

DTC P1757 Governor Pressure Above 3 PSI When Request Is 0 PSI
I would suggest replacing the Govenore Pressure Solenoid at the same time we usually replace them in pairs because you already have the pan off. The sensor are easy to replace the biggest thing is the mess of taking the trans pan off once you have that off there are a few screws you need to remove to remove the retaining plate for the sensor and the solenoid.

Hope this helps and just keep in mind that your feedback is important and I'll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Hope this can help:

P1757 Transmission control pressure not equal to target. (Zero pressure problem)

Theory of Operation
The Governor Pressure Control System is used to regulate the governor pressure which controls the shifts for first, second, and third gear. The Governor Pressure Control System test verifies that the requested pressure and the actual pressure are within a predetermined tolerance.

When Monitored:
While the engine is running and the gear selector is in the Drive position.

Set Condition:
This DTC will set if the monitored Governor Pressure is greater than 41.4 kPa (6 psi) for 5 seconds while the gear selector is in the Drive position with the road speed equal to zero - six times during a drive cycle. The transmission oil temperature must be between 23 - 88° C (73 - 190° F).

Possible Causes
OTHER TRANSMISSION DTC'S PRESENT
5 VOLT SUPPLY CIRCUIT OPEN
5 VOLT SUPPLY CIRCUIT OPEN INSIDE THE TRANSMISSION
TRANSMISSION OIL BURNT OR OIL PAN HAS EXCESSIVE DEBRIS - INTERNAL TRANSMISSION DAMAGE
GOVERNOR PRESSURE SENSOR
GOVERNOR PRESSURE SOLENOID
VALVE BODY

What this mean p1756

P1756 what does this mean: It is transmission related, difinition is: transmission governor pressure not equal to target...its a transmission code this is a common failure... have seen these governer pressure sensors fail often.... most codes are governer pressure sensor volts too high or low, governer pressure sensor not equal to target.. Most of the time you replace the governer pressure sensor and soleniod.. I would recommend you to fix this problem if not you will end up burning the clutches in the trans... The trans pan needs to be removed....the sensor is bolted to the valve body and is located on the pass front side of the valve body.

What this code mean p1756

Governor pressure in the trans is not correct. Fairly easy fix. Drop the trans pan and get a governor pressure solenoid from your local dealer. Bolts in pretty easy.
