HI! You will need to jack up the car and secure the engine. Make sure that it has support for the engine to avoid accidents. Remove the air deflector then remove the oil filter adaptor then you'll have an access to the 2 crankshaft sensors. HOpe this helps and have a good one!

Remove the idle air control (IAC) electrical connector (1) from the IAC sensor (4).
Remove the manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor electrical connector from the MAP sensor.

Inside the transmission behind side cover
Removal Procedure
Remove the case side cover. Refer to Control Valve Body Cover Replacement .

Important: Lock steering wheel in centered position with wheels straight ahead.
Remove the engine dress cover.
Remove the air cleaner intake duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.1L or Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.8L.
Remove the engine mount struts. Refer to Engine Mount Strut Replacement in Engine Mechanical - 3.1L or Engine Mount Strut Replacement - Right Side and Engine Mount Strut Replacement - Left Side in Engine Mechanical - 3.8L.
Important: For supercharged engines, remove the throttle cable bracket.
Disconnect the shift cable bracket.
Remove the transaxle top side cover bolt.
Install the engine support fixture. Refer to Engine Support Fixture in Engine Mechanical - 3.1L or Engine Support Fixture in Engine Mechanical - 3.8L.
Disconnect the transmission wiring harness connector.
Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
Remove the left front tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
Remove the left inner splash shield 3 push pins.
Loosen the wheel speed sensor harness from the 5 retainers at the cradle.
Remove the transmission support to cradle nuts only. Refer to Transmission Mount Replacement .
Raise the vehicle.
Remove the front splash shield 5 bolts.
Loosen the engine mount lower nuts. Refer to Engine Mount Bracket Replacement in Engine Mechanical - 3.1L or Engine Mount and Bracket Replacement in Engine Mechanical - 3.8L.
Remove the stabilizer bolts and reposition the stabilizer.
Remove the steering gear cradle bolts, then support gear before lowering cradle.
Support the left side of the frame with a jackstand.
Remove the left side frame bolts. DO NOT loosen the right front or the right rear frame bolts. Refer to Frame Replacement in Frame and Underbody.
Remove the left ball joint from the steering knuckle.
Position the drain pan under the transaxle.
Remove the left drive axle from the transaxle. Refer to Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement in Drive Axle.
Secure the drive axle to the steering knuckle/strut.
Adjust the jackstand to lower the left side of the frame until it hangs free. Remove jack stand.
Lower vehicle to access engine support fixture.
Lower the engine/transmission assembly with the engine support fixture to gain access to remaining side cover bolts.
If replacing the side cover, remove 4 engine mount bracket bolts.
Remove the harness retainer.
Raise vehicle to access side cover bolts.
Remove the case side cover bolts (56-58).
Remove the case side cover pan (53).
Remove the case side cover gasket (54).
Clean the case.
Clean the side cover gasket mating surfaces.

Disconnect the wiring harness assembly from the fluid temperature sensor (391).
Remove the fluid temperature sensor (391).
Installation Procedure
Install the fluid temperature sensor (391).
Connect the wiring harness assembly to the with fluid temperature sensor (391).
Install the case side cover. Refer to Control Valve Body Cover Replacement .
Important: It is recommended that transmission adaptive pressure (TAP) information be reset. Resetting the TAP values using a scan tool will erase all learned values in all cells. As a result, The ECM, PCM or TCM will need to relearn TAP values. Transmission performance may be affected as new TAP values are learned.
Reset the TAP values. Refer to Transmission Adaptive Functions .

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

  1. Remove the intake manifold top cover.
  2. Disconnect the crankcase breather tube from the throttle body.
  3. Remove the MAP sensor from the intake manifold.
  4. Detach the MAP sensor electrical connector.
  5. Inspect the MAP sensor grommet for wear or damage and replace as needed.
To install:
  1. Installation is the reversal of the removal procedure.

Remove the 12 bolts and 2 nuts.
Insert the blade of SST between the crankcase and oil pan. Cut through the sealer and remove the oil pan.

25. REMOVE NO. 1 CHAIN TENSIONER ASSEMBLY
Remove the 2 nuts, tensioner and gasket.

Do not turn the crankshaft without the chain tensioner.
26. INSTALL ENGINE HANGERS
Install the No. 1 engine hanger and No. 2 engine hanger with the bolts as shown in the illustration.
  • Attach the sling device to the engine hangers and chain block.
27. REMOVE ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR
Attach the engine chain hoist to the engine hangers.
  • Do not attempt to hang the engine by hooking the chain to any other part.
  • Remove the bolt and disconnect the engine mounting insulator FR.
  • Remove the 4 nuts from the engine mounting insulator RH.

  • Raise the engine and remove the engine mounting insulator RH.
28. REMOVE ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET RH
Remove the 3 bolts and engine mounting bracket RH.
29. REMOVE TIMING CHAIN COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
30. REMOVE TIMING CHAIN CASE OIL SEAL

Hi, Please follow below steps :


-. Jack up front wheel and remove the tires
-. Remove the Motor Mount next to the Power Steering Pump and timing belt cover

-. Loosen the Alternator/Water Pump belt.
-. Loosen the Power Steering/AC/Tensioner belt by loosening the Tensioner Bolt first.

-. Remove the power steering pump bracket. Leave the pump attached to the bracket.
-. Remove the Water Pump Pulley.

-. Now it's time to remove the Crank Pulley.

-. Remove the Timing Cover bolts.

-. Remove and replace the crankshaft sensor

Head gasket got bent and I have replaced it . Now the problem I'm facing is how to set the crank shaft and the comshaft timing. I need the procedure for engine timing


Timing Chain & Gears Removal & Installation To Remove:
NOTE: Keep the cam chain away from magnetic fields.
Crankshaft set at TDC marks hnda_trk_crv_crank_tdc_marks.gif

  1. Turn the crankshaft pulley so its Top Dead Center (TDC) mark (1) lines up with the pointer (2).
  2. Raise and support the vehicle.
  3. Remove the front tires/wheels. Front undercar splash shield hnda_trk_crv_frt_under_splsh_shld.gif

  4. Remove the front undercar splash shield.
  5. Remove the drive belt.
  6. Remove the cylinder head cover (See section on Valve Cover).
  7. Remove the crankshaft pulley (See section on Crankshaft Damper). CKP sensor and VTC solenoid electrical connectors hnda_trk_crv_ckp_vtc_ele_conn.gif

  8. Disconnect the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor connector (1) and Variable Valve Timing Control (VTC) oil control solenoid valve connector (2).
  9. Remove the VTC oil control solenoid valve (See section on VTC Solenoid Valve).
  10. Support the engine with a jack and wood block under the oil pan. Ground cable and upper bracket removal hnda_trk_crv_grnd_cbl_uppr_brckt_rem.gif

  11. Remove the ground cable (1), and remove the upper bracket (2). Side engine mount bracket removal hnda_trk_crv_side_eng_mount_brckt_rem.gif

  12. Remove the side engine mount bracket. Timing chain cover removal hnda_trk_crv_timng_chain_cov_rem.gif

  13. Remove the timing chain cover bolts both from the front to the block and from the bottom to the oil pan.
  14. Remove the timing chain cover.
  15. Loosely install the crankshaft pulley. Compress the timing chain auto-tensioner hnda_trk_crv_compr_tim_chain_auto_tensnr.gif

  16. Turn the crankshaft counterclockwise to compress the auto-tensioner. Lock the timing chain auto-tensioner hnda_trk_crv_lock_tim_chain_auto_tensnr.gif

  17. Align the holes on the lock (1) and the auto tensioner (2), and then insert a 0.06 inch (1.5 mm) diameter pin (3) into the holes.
  18. Turn the crankshaft clockwise to secure the pin. Removal of the timing chain auto-tensioner hnda_trk_crv_rem_tim_chain_auto_tensnr.gif

  19. Remove the auto-tensioner. Removal of the timing chain guide B hnda_trk_crv_rem_tim_chain_guide.gif

  21. Remove the cam chain guide A (1) and tensioner arm (2).

Change front main seal , leaking oil around timing chain cover. could be seal around harmonica balancer.


yes, I just changed one of these recently. Had to take both front and bottom off engine. Very difficult repair, as there are no good jack points for the engine when you have all the motor mounts off.
Here is procedure I would recommend.
Remove starter and engine to transmission brackets front and back.
Remove transmission starter gear cover.
drain oil and remove oil pan.
put a block under the crankshaft and jack to release weight on motor mount.
remove front motor mount (by serpentine belt)
remove belt.
remove compressor and bracket.
remove crank pulley and vib damper.
remove timing cover. mark timing belt with direction of travel
loosen tensioner gear.
remove timing belt.
remove crankshaft timing gear and key.
remove seal and oil pump housing.
clean gasket surfaces.
replace seal and reverse procedure.

Operation

The CKP sensor is a magnetic transducer mounted on the engine block or timing cover and is adjacent to a pulse wheel located on the crankshaft. By monitoring the crankshaft mounted pulse wheel, the CKP is the primary sensor for ignition information to the PCM. The trigger wheel has a total of 35 teeth spaced 10 degrees apart with one empty space for a missing tooth. By monitoring the trigger wheel, the CKP indicates crankshaft position and speed information to the PCM. By monitoring the missing tooth, the PCM uses the CKP signal to synchronize the ignition system and track the rotation of the crankshaft.


Removal & Installation

3.0L (VIN S) Engine

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2. With vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
  3. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
  4. Remove the accessory drive belt.
  5. Remove the nut and position the power steering pressure line, muffler and bracket assembly out of the way.
  6. Remove the right front fender splash shield.
  7. Remove the screws and the generator splash shield.
  8. Remove the left-hand upper stud bolt and the lower generator bolt. Loosen the right upper stud bolt.
  9. Pivot the generator away from the engine block.
  10. Remove the engine-to-transaxle support bracket.
  11. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  12. Remove the bolt and the CKP sensor.
  13. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

  3. Raise and support the vehicle.
  4. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  5. Remove the bolts and the CKP sensor.
  6. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
    WARNING Use only a high-impedance multimeter, otherwise damage to the PCM and/or sensors can result.
  2. Visually check the timing cover, CKP sensor and external trigger wheel (outside the timing cover) for obvious physical damage.
  3. With the key OFF , disconnect the CKP sensor harness and measure the resistance of the CKP sensor. Standard value is 250-1000 ohms.
  4. If the resistance is outside the limits given, replace the CKP sensor.
