Question about 2003 Kia Sedona
If the bumping noise started around the same time that the Speedometer started acting up, then I'd say they are related. I'm not sure about the Kia setup, but if the speed sensor is telling the on board computer (ECM) one thing, but the wheels are doing something else, the computer is going to try to make the car compensate for what it sees from the speed sensor...
I had this problem on an Explorer.
With my Explorer, the problem was the worm gear on the inside of the transmission... but other things in that area are the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) and the Drive gear for the speedometer...
The way I isolated the problem was to take out the speedometer gear and hook it to a cordless dril (electric drills might spin it too fast). Turn the ignition to the "on" position, but do not start the car. Have someone watch the speedometer from inside the vehicle as you spin it.
If the speedometer gauge works and stays constant, then you know your problem is with the drive gear or the worm gear on the inside of the transmission.
If it doesn't work, then you know that there is an electrical issue with the speed sensor circuit or something in the gauge cluster is broken.
