That belt should have been changed about 40K ago!!! Cost varies from location to location but it always is much cheaper than the damage you will sustain if you have it fail.

The car was running then on a trip it stopped running and now won't start could it be intake gasket? A shop told me the motor is shot

not much info, but first guess is the timing belt broke and destroyed the engine. Check the internet with your engine size and recommended timing belt replacement interval (80,000 to 100,00 miles). If it is an "interference" engine, then the valves hit pistons when the timing belt breaks and you have no hope.

Does the 98 cadillac deville have a timing belt or chain

My book shows 3.0 ltr 1997-01 "V" engine with a timing belt recommended change at 100.000 miles or 60.000 miles under adverse conditions. It shows 3 idler pulleys that should be changed as well and all the cam and crank seals should be replaced as well because oil is the main killer of timing belts.. While you may consider the extra cost to be a burden you will not think so when you get 100.000miles trouble free in the timing belt area . Do not replace any of the items and you run the risk of all that work again in say 30.000 miles

Do these cars have problems with the timing chain? Just bought a 2002 saturn l200 with 145,000 miles on it for a very good price, car runs great, should i be concerned about the timing chain? Thank you

to be honest im not sure if you have a timing belt or chain if its a chain i would not worry about it going bad on the other hand if its a belt they do recomend that you have them checked around 100,00 miles. shop around for the best deal and if they tell you it needs changed make them show it to you and tell them you want to compair it to a new one so you can see if its worn out for yourself. never just take there word..it can be a little expensive...

hi you really need to change the timing belt every 60,000 miles so it is due for a change, how much the engine mounts will cost, i don't know as i live in the uk it might be allot cheaper in the US or other countries but you are looking at 35 to 40 pounds UK if dollars about 50 to 60 ish

I AM TOLD I NEED TO CHANGE THE TIMING BELT ON MY 2006 4X4 HYUNDAI SANTA FE BECAUSE I'M AT 62,000 MILES AND MY MAINT. BOOK STATES IT SHOULD BE CHANGED AT 50K. IS THIS COSTLY?

$400 to $500 dollars... and the replacement interval is not 50,000 miles.. it's 60,000 (by the way, the reason the belt should be replaced is the fact IT'S GOING TO BREAK.... no doubts!).

When is it recommended to change the engine timing belt

Normally with a timing belt its recommended that you change the belt at 60,000 mile. If its a chain at 100,00 miles.

2003 Honda Civic -LX Timing belt

90000 Miles on the Timing Belt. Do not let this go! A timing belt failure can cause internal engine problems.

Should cost around 200 or so, depending upon your local labor rates.

Good Luck!
