1996 mazda 626 overheats after shur off and sometimes driving. no smoke

sounds like a restricted radiator.. the thermostat has 2 x jobs to maintain the temperature and to restrict the flow-so by removing the thermostat you actually went backwards- meaning the coolant will flow to fast thru the radiator and will not have time to be cooled down prior to returning to the engine block. since your heater helps to cool it down my guess(educated) would be a restricted radiator..

1999 Protege overheating. Changed thermostat, radiator, water pump and burped the new radiator. Runs fine on freeway, but will overheat in stop and go traffic.

if your vehicle has electric cooling fans it could be that they are not working,if this is the case when you are on the freeway you don't need the cooling fans you only need them when the vehicle is not moving as there is no air going through the radiator to keep the engine cool......hope this helps......cheers.

My mazda protege had a leak in the radiator and we were told to put stop leak in it . when i dove off my car started to overheat . I put my heater on to keep the engine a little cooler and this only worke...

If a radiator leaks you buy a new one, common sense

The Stop Leak probably clogged your hearter core
Now you can remove that & try to clean it out or replace
it also

What do i do if my car is still overheating and all fluids are at the recommended levels, and no leaks or holes are apparent? And the heat seems to have stopped working.

There are a few things that can cause these symptoms. Does the electric radiator fan come on? Does the car still overheat with the fan on? Did you do some kind of work to the cooling system and possibly were not able to bleed all air out? The thermostat could be stuck closed although the heater would still work. I suspect a bad cylinder head gasket.

Wind my car get hot it will shut down intill it cools off it is a 1996 nissan altima

When your car overheats it stops? You need to get some attention to the cooling system as something is awry there.

My 1996 acura tl overheats and cools down when i give it gas?

first check the radiator, fan clutch, water pump, and thermostat for proper operation.  this condition is also sometimes caused by an exhaust leak near the manifold, letting hot air into the intake.
