Check your battery...this clicking is caused from insufficient voltage to the starter!!

Finding short in wire from altenater to battery

The temperature of the alternator is not read by the engine temperature gage. It gets hot because it is most likely trying to charge a battery that is failing, have it electronically tested by a auto parts store like Autozone or others, it is a free test.

2001 Ford expedition Location AND # of alternator field fuse and alternator mega fuse and any other fuse and relay that has to do with the charging system. Thank you!

Lisa I'M sorry to say their isn't any fuse or fuses that can correct problems with our alterator.Their is what is called a fuseable line witch is basicaly reistance wire that will burn out if over loaded .However you would have nothing even with a new battery NO CRANKING.
The ALT .uses diodes it is AC alternating currant unlike DC direct current..The diodes olny allow the currant to flow in 1 derection and uses a voltage regulator to allow the systems that are DC the battery to charge and at the same time other systems that run on AC voltage to work as well .
Your best bet is to talk it to somebody who you trust and test what you get at the battery with the vehicle running if it reads 14 volts at the top of the battery DC then the ALT IS GOOD , Check the BAT , at this point with the NEGITIVE cable off the BAT. It should read at least 12 volts DC on a 20 volt Dc scale.
But likely it is the alternator

I installed a new alternator, batter, and starter in my 1997 Ford Expedition and my truck wont start unless you hit the starter. All the wires are good so what else is there to check?

Sounds like you still have a bad starter. You can get a bad one from the parts store. Go back and have them test it. Or could be cylinoid.

Amp meter in truck says 12 amps when truck is running. Brand new alternator and brand new battery. Charge reads 13.5 when on hand heldmeter at O'riely but in truck it says low. cable from pos. bat. ...

It is not unusual for the cluster gauge to be off a little or out of calibration, specially on older vehicles. You could have a voltage drop at the starter, corrision, bad wires or bad connection would cause it.
The 13.5vdc at the battery is a bare minimum though and could be a potential problem. With all your lights on and blower motor on high it could even be discharging.
I would check all your cables, and look closely at the grounds. Grounds to engine and frame. Also inspect the cables, lot of times when they corrode on the ends, the corrision will continue down the cable, like a cancer eating away, you can't see it because of the insulation...but it happens.
Good luck, i hope this helps.

I have a 1998 expedition and i just put a new battery, alternator and starter. but the alternator is not charging the battery at all.. what else can it be? what else is in between the battery and...

Take it to any good parts store and have charging system tested and battery load tested. At battery voltage (while running) should be 13.1v- 14.4 v anything lower then your "new" alternator is bad.

I have a 1996 VW Passat Estate 1.9TD the battery goes flat after a day or 2 running. With a fully charged battery in it it shows 12.5volts when ticking over.when a go to start the carthe dash lighs come on...

A fully charged battery should read approx 12.6 volts. When you check the voltage of a running vehicle, it should read approx 14.5 volts or so. If it doesn't, you are not going to charge. You are most likely driving around with a junk alternator, and if it has a bad regulator, it will discharge your battery. Most auto shops will test alternators for free!
