Hi! One thing can cause this is that the rebuilding was not good enough. The transmission is very sensitive enough that one wrong move can break it again. Im used on working on transmissions but I usually go get tranny on the junkyard. I will just replace the torque converters and put new fluid and filter and it runs fine. Talking bout the diaphragm is a painful matter. Hope this shed some light. Have a good one!

It could be something minor like a broken linkage, or something serious like, you need a tranny rebuild. You'll need a reputable shop to troubleshoot.

Go here - - and find the AW-4 Service and Diagnostic Manual. Looks like you need to test some solenoids.

Isuzu bighorn year 1995, not changing gear after 1st gear

This is the classic symptom of a vehicle with a failed torque converter lockup solenoid.
The lockup solenoid "locks up" the transmission to the drivetrain but only operates when the transmission progresses from first gear to second gear.

99 chevy blazer idles rough when comming to a stop in drive

Could be your Torque convertor Lockup clutch Seloniod. Maybe the clutch doesn lock as it should and the transmission makes the engine bumps . if you ever drove a stick then you would know what i;m talking about as when you go to a stop light you have to push the clutch if not the car will be jumping untill it stalls. because in the automatic there is the Torque convertor lockup cluch that locks the transmission from making it stalls and in the Manual there is the clutch pedal. Hope this is clear and helps. Good luck

if the car is a 5spd the clutch is burnt out of it. if it is automatic, it could be low on fluid, or tranny needs a rebuild.

This sounds like a problem with the torque converter lockup system. Usually the torque converter lockup solenoid is at fault in your condition. This solenoid usually locks up the torque convertor (which acts like a clutch in an automatic transmission) when you are driving at a certain speed, and unlocks it when you press the brake, and/or come to a stop. When a torque converter stays locked up, and you stop the vehicle, it acts like a vehicle with a manual transmission, if you bring the vehicle to a complete stop without applying the clutch pedal, the brakes stall the engine. Basically, if the torque converter can't unlock, even when you come to a stop, the engine is still locked to the transmission, and even when you apply the brakes, the torque converter doesn't slip and freewheel like it should, but instead stalls the engine.

1996 audi a4 transmission hard shifting

Get the transmission scanned at the dealership. If it has incorrect gear ratio code stored, it needs a transmission. Only the torque convertor or valve body can be replaced for any repairs at the dealership, so it needs to be diagnosed correctly. Any authorized ZF transmission repair shop can also repair them, more than the Audi dealerships can, so thats another alternative.

Automatic transmission problem

Your vehicle should have the A4LD trans. Some of those small Bronco's had C-5....3 speed, lockup trans in them.If yours is indeed the O.Drive trans,4th gear in that trans is totally mechanical and hydraulic control. The only electricals in that year trans is lockup apply inside the torque convertor, and that happens after the 3-4 upshift.Later version DID have a solenoid for 4th gear.4th gear consists of the Forward clutch pack applied, and the front band,or O.D. band. This band is applied with a servo piston. It is a steel core piston with a pin and a rubber bonded covering with molded in lip seals. These servos are known for the rubber hardening, and no longer applying the band.Sometimes the band gets burnt to the point of no good, but installing a new piston is possible without removing the trans.Other than the servo piston,or without checking the valves in the valvebody, pretty much the trans would have to come out and be inspected.Good luck.j
