2.4 liter 4 cyl 1996 grand am were is thermostat located

Follow the lower hose from the radiator to the metal pipe that runs under the engine and connects to the back side of the engine to the water pump housing. Remove that metal pipe from the water pump housing and the t-stat will be right there.

Need to locate and replace thermostat for 97 pontiac grand am se with a 2.4L engine.

The thermostat is under the car on the backside of the engine. there will be a metal pipe attached to the lower radiator hose. Follow that pipe to the back of the car. It is bolted to the water pump housing. The thermostat is in between the water pump housing and the metal pipe.

Honda Jazz (Fit in USA) overheating in 15 to 20 miles. It's not the water pump, or the radiator, or the thermostat. Could it be the head gasket?

Fans only come on at very slow speeds or while stoped, otherwise the air flow is enough to cool the water. so the big question is, are you loosing water? if so from where? id check the following. either A get under the car or B reach down on the driver side (the side of the engine with your timing belt) down to where the water pump is and feel the over flow valve, if water is coming from their its your water pump(this is bad very expensive repair, you have to replace a LOT of stuff). also their should be a metal pipe that goes into your water pump/tempature sensor check the o rings to see if they are leaking(or as in my case i had a pin hole in the pipe itself). Check the fins on your radiator to see if they are damaged.

also if its the head gasket this is an easy thing to check. pull your oil dipstick if the oil is watery this is your issue(and also expensive)

How to get metal heater hose pipe out of water pump without taking water pump off 1995 jeep grand cherokee v8

there is a bracket attached to the pipe just above the water pump bolts (this bolt looks similar to the water pump bolts). there is also a bracket attached to a long, thin bolt just under the valve covers on the drivers side. you'll need a long socket to get to this one. once those two brackets are freed up, you should be able to work the heater hose out of the hole in the water pump. of course, that metal pipe attaches to a rubber hose about halfway back from the water pump to the firewall, so you'll want to undo the hose clamp that holds it in place and slide the metal pipe out of the rubber hose.

i'm not sure what you have in mind, but this should let you accomplish it. note that there is an o-ring that fits on the water pump end of that metal pipe. it's included when you buy the water pump.

have fun and be careful.
