Change your transmission filter before you blow your transmission pump. It is not getting enough fluid pressure to drive the transmission. It's not hard to do, just messy. I always suggest a tarp or a carpet you intend to throw away under the car while you do it. That or do it in someone else's driveway. Good luck.

What is causing rattling grinding noise at idle especially in my 89 4.5 DeVille?

The technique I always used to identify where such a noise was coming from was to use a very long screwdriver (2 feet long), while the engine is running. CAREFULLY touch the screwdriver end to each pulley or other object under the hood, and put your ear to the handle. The device making the noise will become very clear.

It could be AC pump/clutch, alternator, water pump, power steering pump, etc.

Has a shake in the front end shakes then stops then shakes again only at hwy speeds around 70 mph

Looseness in the front end or a tread separation in the tire. This is extreme but you get the idea if there is a bulge near the side of the tire even a tiny one

My 2000 Subaru Outback has a loud rattle from the rear gate (ie door)

Check your rear stabilizer bar an make sure that all the bolts are still intact. You may also want to crawl under the vehicle and give your muffler a shake to ensure that no mounts are missing. these are the most common issues associated with rattling from the rear of vehicle.

My car slightly shakes while I drive at either lower or higher speeds periodically. I just got my car repaired (e.g., replaced the crankcase ventilation system - hoses, seals, valves, etc and the 2 drive...

it might be the overdrive cuz my dads truck does that and he presses the overdrive button and it stops then when he is at hwy speed it starts shakeing again then he turns the overdrive back on then it stops

Rattling sound from the exhaust

The metal shielding around your catalytic converter could be rattling or the rubber donut that holds the rear tailpipe could be bad. When your car is cold shake your tailpipe and see if you can reproduce the noise. If you can your tailpipe donut is likely bad. Three dollars at any auto parts store. If it does rattle when you shake your tailpipe then the heat shield for your convert could be loose. You need to tighten it up another piece of metal between it and the converter to keep it from rattling. If you hear the rattle when you go over bumps too then your exhuast is probably, loose. Crawl under there and stake shaking things, I am sure you'll find the problem

I loose power when reaching 70mph it drops to about 56mph and then picks up again, but I still can not get over 70mph

If the vehicle is fuel injected it could be one of the injectors, does the car shake really bad before it stalls?

Shaking & rattling above 50 mph

You might have a broken belt in the plys of your tire. Feel around each one on the sides to see if there is a slight protrusion or bubble. This happens from over inflating or hitting a major bump.
