The hard part is getting to a couple of the plugs back near the firewall.
Trust me, take the time to remove the upper motor mounts.

Put a jack under the engine (with a piece of wood to protect the pan).
Remove one of the bolts from each of the upper engine mounts. The mounts are shaped like a Y and are attached to the radiator support.
Jack the engine up a little, and it should "roll" forward and give you room to get the back spark plugs. Make sure you brace the engine, in case the jack fails.
I highly recommend that you change the plug wires at the same time.

My 2005 chevy impala recieved a code of P1070 and I am unsure of what that means. I could really use some help. I believe I need to change the spark plugs could this cause the problem I have?

Unfortunately not the best news: A P1870 code means the transmission reporting to the computer that something is slipping.

You could try flushing / changing the transmission fluid & resetting the computer, but transmission service could be in your near future.

Hope this helps.

How often do you need to change your spark plugs on a 2005 impala with 90k? They haven't been changed since I bought the car in 2006?

The average suggested time is 100,000 miles. the plugs are designed to go this long. If you check your manual it may also recommend replacing the oxygen sensors about the same time to ensure the maximun fuel economy & make sure you don't have Check engine lights coming on in the near future.

Hope this helps
Farrout.
