What do I need to do to change spark plugs and wires on 1997 mountaineer

Spark plug wires just pull off and press back on. Make sure you grasp the wires by the rubber boot only. If you pull the wires by the wires, instead of using the boot, you can break the wires. Remove the plugs with a 3/8" ratchet, extension and a spark plug socket. I do not know if you have to remove anything to get access to the spark plugs and spark plug wires. You may need a universal joint to angle the ratchet.

Idles rough in reverse

either your EGR valve, but then you would also receive a traction control/stabilitrack light, or you could be due for spark plug and ignition wire/spark plug wire replacement(tune up)
I have a 2008 torrent that was doing the same thing but I also had my EGR Valve causing the stabilitrack/traction control light to come on. I thoroughly cleaned my EGR tube, ports in engine and EGR Valve as well as the air intake(all with carb cleaner) then reassembled and changed my spark plugs and ignition/spark plug wires. with NGK parts. solved my problem so I hope this will help you as well

Cant get spark plug boot off plug any suggestions

Believe it or not, there is actually a tool for that. It happens when there was no dielectric grease applied on assembly.

An example is here:
http://www.jegs.com/p/Taylor/Taylor-Spark-Plug-Boot-Removal-Tool/1047289/10002/-1

The removal tool works best with a hot engine, so use great care to avoid some serious burns.

If you have a decent auto parts store in your area, they should have one or two on hand even.

If that is not a viable option, you need to decide on the status of the plug wire itself- if it is being replaced, just pull the wire out of the boot and with a long narrow screwdriver, poke that through the wire hole and work around the diameter of the plug. and that should release it from the plug. Once in a while you will get lucky and not damage the cable or boot and can reassemble, but it is usually about half the time.

Alternately if the cable is trash, and you can get at the boot from outside, you can slice it with a sharp knife and peel it off.

On reassembly, use just a dab of silicone dielectric grease/tune up grease on the boot before you put it on the spark plug and it will be easier to remove next tune up. The same should be done on the other end be it to a distributor cap or an ingition block.

How to change te spark plugs

Hi: If this is your 1st time to Change your Spark Plugs, I recommend that you First of All Get the Correct Spark Plugs from your Auto Parts Store, Then Locate your Spark Plug Wires which run from your Distributor Cap to your Spark Plugs. If you have a V-8 There will be 8 if you Have a V-6 Then You'll have six Spark Plug Wires and 1- COIL Wire which is located in the Center of your Distributor Cap to your Coil. It is the Shortes Wire.I Recommend you ONLY do 1-Spark Plug at a Time, This will Prevent you from getting any of your wires Crossed which will Cause your Engine to Run Rough ,Back Fire or Not even Start,So just Pull off 1-Wire From Spark Plug and one Wire From Your Distributor Cap, You'll Need a Spark Plug Socket Probally 5/8th in. And a Ratchet and 2- Different Size Extensions to beable to reackh all your Spark PlugsNOTE!! Buy you a Spark Plug Wire Tool there not very Expensive but well worth it,This was you Can Pull the Wires with out Damaging Your Wires. And you Might Want to Put NEW Spark Plug Wires On as well, If So and I do Recommend This. And Again Just do 1- Wire and Plug At a Time So you'll know you Have Not Crossed any Wires. Hope This Helps You ,Please Respond by Voting on This Problem And How it Helped You. Thanks From WYOCWBOY

How to preform a tune-up on my 2009 Saturn Vue

It has a maintenance recomendation from the manufacturer for replacement of the spark-plugs at 100,000 miles. You don't list mileage or V6 or L4 cylinder. Make sure engine is cold because the cylinder heads are aluminum and can be damaged if plugs are removed hot or overtightened upon reassembly. Remove spark-plug wires and replace spark-plugs. Sometimes the wires break when you remove them and will require replacement. If you coat the inside of the wires where they connect with the plugs with dielectric grease it will help prevent the wires from breaking upon future disassembly.

How I change the spark plugs to legacy 95 grand wagon? engine EJ25 thank's

If it's a single overhead cam engine, which I'm guessing it is, all you have to do is remove the washer reservoir from the drivers side and pull the spark plug boots out to expose the spark plug tube. You do the same thing on the other side, but you just take out the air box/tubes. 5/8 spark plug socket, 6inch 3/8 drive extension and 3/8 drive ratchet. Pull all 4 spark plugs out, put 4 new ones in and reassemble everything in reverse order of removal. Good luck and have fun!!

Spark plug wiring diagram

I dont understand why you would need that unless you took off all the wires and took out all the plugs and forgot how the wires were.I have the same truck and I always do the plugs and wires one at time to make sure I make a mistake. If this is your ploblem let me know because i might be able to walk you though it.
